I accept multiple quests but focus on one before moving on

I use to accept one, finish, then another. But after having to back track too much, I just accept everything I can on my way.

Ok, to clarify, my general tactic is to unlock all the wayshrines in a zone. Do the main quests and pick up every other quest I stumble across, and then clear the map in a somewhat orderly fashion to avoid any further darting around from one end to the other over and over.

I'll pick them up if the starter is nearby (so I don't forget about it), but I will focus on completing the one I was on previously - which is why I thought the new process of making the latest picked up quest the selected quest (a "feature") was annoying

Pick up a quest and focus on that one. If I pick up another one during the first quest, the other one will have to wait until I'm finished

I guess "at my leisure" was the best choice for me, but it's not quite that simple. It more of a regional/location thing. We move from zone main quest to zone main quest, picking up and completing side quests as we go. We realized that side quests can add to the stories of the zone quest you're on, so it felt better to complete them as we went.

The game is set up very well to lead you to quests in an order that makes sense. We just finished Greenshade last night and at the end of the zone quest line had only one world boss, one delve, two quests and three skyshards left. The boss and delve (with one skyshard and one quest) were on the way to the next zone. That left two skyshards and a quest we had missed.

I accept one quest, finish it, then look for another

The most "lore friendly" way I've found is to complete the main quest first, then go to each city and complete the ones there. I used to complete side quests as I went along on the main quest but I stopped.
