PSA: free character slot.

Just a quick FYI before you delete a character to make your Necro... If your free slot doesn't appear at first, log all the way into the game (into a zone) and then log back out to character select and it should be there.

I bought a slot when I first logged in after Elsweyr launched on PC. Luckily I have little use for the Clowns I've put together by subscribing. Some people may have gone out and bought some for this purpose. When I denounced this as deceptive, a host of white knights jumped and said it's on players to keep up to date on the fact that you have to log in on any character for an item linked to the account, not any character, to be made available. I guess people will justify just about anything as long as it doesn't bite *them* in the derrière.

The day they close down the forums I may consider checking Twitter. Until then, they should post the info on their own platform IMHO. Or, you know, avoid doing senseless stuff like forcing people to log in characters to get account-linked stuff.

Dev tracker does not appear on mobile devices as the tabs do show. So dev tracker is not so helpful to all.

Is it too much to ask to pin a thread to the top of General? Not just this issue, but multiple times they’ve communicated (when they do actually communicate) in a round about way that has me chasing them down on multiple platforms.

I just noticed that I only have 9/9 character slots. Do I not get a free slot if I already bought one before? Do I need to actually own Elsweyr to get that slot?

Edit: Did a bit more digging, yes, you need to buy Elsweyr to get the free slot, but the limit was increased to 17 for all (opposed to 18 with Elsweyr).

This was a little confusing because in the ESO live where they announced the free slot, they did say “everyone” gets it. It wasn’t clear to me that it meant everyone who buys Elsweyr.

I think they were just trying to distinguish it from the new paid slots, but it was a poor choice of words.

i vaguely think i may have read about deleting toons and your storage boxes. i think any item deposited by that toon my disappear? maybe it was something else.

You don’t want to delete the last alt that saw your house boxes. That was the bug. I think it’s been fixed but for best case you want to finish with the alt you’re going to delete, then have your main open the storage boxes and take some screencap so your main is the last to open them, then delete the other character.

It’s been fixed though, I’m pretty sure.
