"it doesn't pose a challenge" <-- is that your opinion as a game developer?

Except it would take -quite- a bit of paid programmer time to add the code without breaking something else in a game this complex, for no benefit to ZOS for the expense. There is no reason to prevent us from doing this.

No you wouldnt. You could still utilize the old system. Giving us an option to keep the same weapon on both bars wouldnt change any thing beyond that.

That's literally an option that's already in the game. You might not like it, but it solves your issue.

LOL! Are you serious? Imagine thinking this would pose a challenge when we can already put the exact same weapon on the second skill bar as long as we spend gold on it. How does this lack of logic even happen?

Unfortunately no, the game wont let you equip more than one copy of a unique named item at the same time.

OP, gotta make sure about something, you are aware that the same enchantment shares cooldown right? (For example if u use hail from back bar your poison damage enchantment will deal damage every two seconds, even while on front bar! And if you have the dame poison damage on front bar, your light attacks on front bar will not trigger any enchantment, while if you slot a weapon with another enchantment, I you will get the poison damage every two seconds, and a disease one with a two seconds cooldown) <--- in a combat system when different enchantments on your bars are what is expected by the developers, i see no reason to honor your request.
To me, the whole idea that I can't use my magica skills unless I have a weapon equipped is ridiculous.
ESO won't let me fire off any magica skills unless I have a weapon equipped, but the weapon cannot fire off any of the skills.

The weapon is what channels your magicka.
The original idea seems more like someone not wanting to grind for a 2nd weapon than not wanting to purchase a 2nd weapon.

The whole thing is a kludge to get around the 5-power limitations of a console controller. No other TES game has this.

What OP want is very good idea. The only meaningfull objection here is it will cost ZoS to do it bug free.

ZOS are not a charity.
They are in the -business- of making games.
The will want to see some return for their investment.
And noone here has made any case how spending paid programmer time to make this change will benefit ZOS. It is aminor change in gameplay, one that actually -hurts- ZOS as it would allow people to get the same effect while playing LESS (to farm a second weapon set just like the first if they really want that); and ZOS wants to have people play -more- as to ever tempt them with their paid-for services... yet for that minor drawback to their bottom line they would have to spend some resources, possibly quite a bit depending how deeply in the gorian know of ESO code that change would have to be implemented.
Not. Bloody. Likely.

You're telling me that a battle axe, or a sword, or a bow, is required to "channel" my magica abilities? And it doesn't matter which weapon? And to use my other magica abilities, I have to equip a different weapon that also has nothing to do with magica?

I mean, I double-slot Inferno Mother's Sorrow (albeit with different traits/enchants).
