Disappointment in Jode's Embrace Timed Availability

The previous two chapters offered two amazing Classic homes in Amaya Lake Lodge and the Alinor Crest Townhouse for anyone to buy at any time. With the announcement of Elsweyr I was looking forward to another Classic home in the vein of the previous aforementioned houses. Now with the release of Elsweyr I can't help but be disappointed that, 1. Jode's Embrace is behind a contrived timed window, 2. Will likely be priced as Notable due to the Plane of Jode area. The second concern is speculation as in the PTS it was listed as Notable, while in the live server it's listed as classic, but it will likely be more expensive than other Classic homes if it stays there.

It's my hope that they remove the timed availability, the development of this home was done concurrently with the Elsweyr chapter. If we pay for Elsweyr we paid for the houses development, we should be able to purchase the house whenever we want. Also if it is priced as a notable home, please include an alternative player home that's equivalent to Jode's Embrace without the plane of Jode for the classic tier.

I totally agree.

On the plus side (if you can call it that), it's not a good house, layout-wise.

Nothing like as good as Ald Velothi, or the Townhouse.

It just has two giant, square rooms, separated by a hallway/stairwell and a (literal) corridor upstairs, stretching back into God knows where* (way beyond where the bottom storey [or the bit of it you are given] ends) and no rooms off that corridor.

So, basically, it "just" feels as though most housing people have been totally overlooked and neglected, this time; as opposed to being targeted for a limited time rinsing.

Overlooked in favour of another target audience, entirely, in other words.

People who don't care about well planned, functioning, or even believable shaped houses and only care about orange skied outside areas.

Assuming that makes you feel any better?

Can't say it does me (just makes me feel like a mistreated customer), but still.


* Even if it is possible that the upstairs corridor could fit within the depth of the house (which I doubt), why are there then no rooms at the back, on the bottom storey (chained off, or otherwise), or rooms off the corridor to either side, upstairs, to correspond to the exterior size?

I will also add, that if you are going to reuse assets for housing, at least make (or choose) assets which are reusable, in the first place...

There are even windows on either side of that upstairs corridor - windows onto what?

Those walls are nowhere near the exterior walls of the house.

There's a slight mismatch (which we are more than used to) and then there is this place.

I wonder when it will be available. It's not in the june's showcase. And agree, just make it available for all times and possible to buy with in game gold.

I put in feedback on this on the PTS.. I noticed immediately how this house does not match the outside what so ever. It looks like it was put together very quickly and with little thought.

From the front. The windows on the outside of each side hall, do not match the number on the inside. 7 outside vs 6 inside.

The windows inside in the bedrooms, there are a couple of them that are slightly off centre, so it you put a curtain up there, for someone with OCD it drives them bonkers.

They basically created this space to be a shortened and condensed version of the Rimmen Palace, but they took the uniqueness away. I would have loved to have seen doors that went to the back end out to a garden on either side and perhaps a porch exit out the top, while still allowing the rest of the building to be built into the stonework in the back. It would have definitely given us a little more to work with. I was disappointed there wasn't a little bit more outside space to work with and decorate.

Now, I will say, that if you just decorate the inside and the outside (not Jode's dimense area), you can very easily decorate this space within the allowable 700 slots without it looking too sparse nor like a hoarders paradise.

So sad to see it's not available this month. I was really looking forward to purchasing the house.

Yeah, this is truly ridiculous. They need to cut down on the limited availability for homes - especially in regards to chapters. There should be a set number of always available houses per zone, including chapters. End of story

I'm also extremely disappointed at there not being a "normal"/medium sized house (i.e. the ones you mentioned from the other chapters). I personally prefer small to medium sized homes, and I was really looking forward to getting a nice house in Elsweyr for all my Khajiits.

*Sigh* Guess I'll just have to make the most of my little inn room

Not sure if anyone has noticed the current trend of new “homes” releasing every month. If Id have to guess, Id say Jode’s will be released in July. They technically released a “home” this month w/the quest locked “Halls of Lunar Champion” . Im predicting: late July /early August for Jode’s.
