I'm not quite sure if Lore is a better sub forum, but anyway...

I was wondering why people of Tamriel are storing lockpicks in urns. Or Recipes :yum:
I mean, don't they think its a bit strange to use a bottle of Lorkhan's tears that just laid for years (or hundreds of years in some delves/duns) with the ashes of a dead

The spirits of the vanished Dwemer abhor the vacuums of empty urns.

Being spirits, lifting a lockpick or scrap of recipe paper is all they can manage.

For the same reason you can make yourself invisible, shoot fireballs from a wooden stick, teleport at will and ride on the back of a lion.

The reason being that trying to apply real world logic to a fantasy computer game is always going to fail ...

They're not storing lockpicks in urns, ashes and lockpicks are what's left of a thief.

Now that is strange. Maybe they put fire-protection spell on precious family recipe they pass down for generations.

Also disturbing is that merchants will pay gold for the ashes.

It's better than it used to be. A crate of tomatoes gives you tomatoes now.

I used to wonder why Skeevers had boots and particulary why only one pair when they have four feet. Then I decided maybe they were nesting in them.
and then the parrot said, "must be the water mines green too."

most urns are used as ''chamber pots'' aka toilets and that recipe youve found is the toilet paper
If you want me to reply to your comment type @Ankael07 in it.

    Agree!

    Also

Ashes are actually used in a lot of old school medicinal stuff.

    Also,

What if some of them are coffee urns?

You've unlocked a tomb that has been sealed for centuries. As you creep down the corridor you spot an urn. You pry open the lid, your imagination running wild as to what mysterious artifacts you will find.... "Ah cool, a 6 hundred year apple, I'll eat that!"

I mean, people are hiding things they think have value in them because they're urns...and generally it's taboo to disturb them. I also blame Argonian kids. The pesky lizards like to play in them. I seen it with my own two eyes.

My great great grandfather used to always carry a bottle of lorkhan's tears as a lucky charm so we put a bottle into his urn as a burial object. I was recently praying for his well-being in Aetherius at his urn in the familly crypt when a man named xXxNoobslayer420xXx took his urn, opened it and turned it upside down, then grabbed the bottle right before my eyes and left after he put it into his craft bag.

    Laziness.

    Which is easier to implement?

    1) An integrated and immersive system of learning recipes and motifs from faction craftspeople spread across Tamriel providing knowledge of their craft based on in-character backstory and character skill level...

    or

    2) Generic containers labeled “urn” with an RNG function attached between them and a loot table.

Yeah! Like wtf... why does some super badass monster in any game even have gear on it? Like does he keep it in his pocket or something?

It’s from the corpse of the last failed hero. If that last knight had gone with anything but the Invigorating trait they might not have died to that giant monster.

I always wonder about NPCs who leave a potato or a corn in the nightstand next to their bed. Probably best not to think too much about that... and if it's accompanied by a belt, I just back away slowly.

Some grave robbers tried to rob that grave but were interrupted by the guards, so they quickly hid their lock pick set in one of those urns and walked past the suspicious guards, whistling a tune, pretending to be normal tourists.

It's a custom for people to put items in the urn of a loved one or friend as a token of remembrance and good luck in the afterlife.

Each item was put there for a purpose/reason by the gifter.

If you return to the same urn later, you may find something completely different that was left by another visitor.

I once play a game in which you can pick your nose with a lock pick and then you will have an "open" nose. It was a valid way to train lock picking in that game.
Of course, if you skill is too low, you will die from a cerebral hemorrhage with the lock pick in your brain.
Guess you found the burial pot for that hero.

"I am a nightblade. Blending the disciplines of the stealthy agent and subtle wizard, I move unseen and undetected, foil locks and traps, and teleport to safety when threatened, or strike like a viper from ambush. The College of Illusion hides me and fuddles or pacifies my opponents. The College of Mysticism detects my object, reflects and dispels enemy spells, and makes good my escape. The key to a nightblade's success is avoidance, by spell or by stealth; with these skills, all things are possible."
