Necromancer can generate ultimate while not in combat. Thoughts?

So I'm currently leveling two necromancers and have noticed that they are able to generate ultimate while not in combat and without doing any damage/healing.

The necromancer's skills Bone Armor, Spirit Mender and Skeletal Mage can be cast on self, they create corpses when the skill ends or if cast again halfway through the duration (about 8 seconds), and those corpses can be consumed with Bitter Harvest to gain ultimate - even more ultimate with the passives.

Can any other class generate ultimate while not in combat because I thought it was a combat-only thing?

PS: I'm not complaining because it's actually useful. Just wondering how this is possible lol.

seems fitting to me because the ultimate generated makes Resurrection possible.
that is inline with everything necromancer class is all about.
    im in agreement with it.

Nightblades drinking Potion. Any player drinking Potion to gain minor heroism now with the update.

Seriously. I'm seeing these top dps builds not include Bitter Harvest for something like a fighters guild ability just for 3% WD. In trash pulls, that ability alone uses 6 corpses at a time for 6 ult each. That's 36 ult per 1 GCD, 46 if you include the Corpse Consumption passive.

I see a nerf coming, the other morph for major protection seems fine, the 6 ult with Bitter Harvest would still be solid at 4, either way, generating ult outside of combat is fine. Makes necromancer unique and fun to play.

Necrotic Potency (Bitter Harvest morph) is awesome. I instantly chose that morph over the other.

I believe Warden can too by casting animal companion skills, so casting the netch should give ultimate. Unsure if it's during combat or not, though.

It's not as useful as you think. You won't have enough corpses to make use of it on most fights, it's really only worth slotting for trash.

Warden has to cast an ability while in combat to generate ultimate.

    Savage Beast:
When you cast an Animal Companions ability while you are in combat, you generate 2 ultimate. This effect can occur once every 8 seconds.

I really like that they can. The ultimate generation is seriously fun. If they nerfed necrotic potency then deaden pain would become the defacto best morph. When right now i think either morph is a fair option.

I'm fine with it. The class is actually distinct from the others. Hope it stays that way.

Judging from what I've been seeing on the forums, Necro needs all the help it can get. So it is just as well that they can do this.

If I remember correctly it was sorcs (or was it NBs ?) getting a nerf because of the ability to generate ultimate out-of-combat.

Devs actually said they didn't want this to happen. So most likely this oversight of class-design will be changed.

@ZOS_GinaBruno maybe you could ask the DEVs for a comment on this?

@all saying necros need all the help they can get/deserve a buff neglegted to any other class/deserve anything because its a payed class/ need to be overbuffed for profit ... take a moment and think about the following keywords, please: game balance rules fairness

    Thank you! <3

@Elsterchen clearly that tag was aimed at me, dunno why you didn't tag me directly.

Do you really think Necromancer is overpowered? Have you played it or read anything about it at all? This is NOT about pay2win or anything like that. Necromancer needs buffing and fixing just so it can be up to the same standards as the other classes. As it stands, it does not function correctly. Yes, that can also include the ulti-gen thing.

So, before you start throwing out buzzwords like "pay2win", take a moment and think about the following keywords, please: game balance rules fairness

    Thank you! <3

There used to be some ways that characters could generate ultimate outside of combat, but they were all shut down, so I expect the same will happen to necromancers.

    @ZoS?
    - The Psijic Order
    - TKO
    - Dominant Dominion
    - The Noore

Necromancers are not the only class that can generate ult out of combat by design of their skills and passives. Zos has known about NBs for years and has chosen to not change anything.

    @ZoS?

Yeah I thought it may have been an oversight too, which is why I made this thread.

As for the NB passive they have to drink a potion every ~45 seconds to gain a few ultimate. But the necro can just sit in a corner somewhere while casting 3 skills every 8-10 seconds (one of the skills doesn't even break stealth!) and then consume those corpses with another skill for some decent ultimate gain. That's not even the same ballpark lol...

Again, I'm not really against the ultimate generation while not in combat, but I do think it's kinda unfair that other classes can't do it too.

I'm willing to bet the forums would have a ***-fit if DK's could generate ultimate out of combat. :p

I use this and test this skill at a dolmen where it's nothing but trash mobs.

I can generate roughly 36-40 ult per run that I actively count. I'd wager it's more closer to 50-60.

Outside of battle I get 4 ult per skill that creates a corpse. Is this problematic? No. Do I get unlimited ultimates? No. If someone sits outside of a battle, and casts bone armor for example over and over and over to generate ultimate it doesn't make anyone op. The argument has to be in pvp and if someone has time in a bg to do this...that's funny and I say good job. With every other exploit pvp players use, AC, sorc zoo meat shielding, etc...I'm good with it.

The nerf will be it costs nothing to cast. Expect a magica cost for this skill.
