Is this the amount of space everyone else has the game taking? I'm shocked since I wanted to move it to an SSD but I can't now.

Merlight✭✭✭✭✭Installed game is roughly 80GB in 285 files. If you also have PTS installed, double that.
Launcher / updater should have removed patch files (they're in directories named "patchdata.something") after completing update. Did your update finish without problem?
