what would happen if everyone had like 100k hp in pvp? think about it

picture this:

remove all battle spirit debuffs, you get full damage and healing.

increase the cyro bonus HP from like 5k up to 50k-100k (but don't let health scaling skills or passives effect this bonus health)

and then let everyone go nuts?


the overall idea being, it becomes very hard / impossible for anyone to "gank" anyone, no 1 second fight.

however everyone will inevitably die, you will just have more time to react and fight back a bit. 100k hp is not going to save you from someone killing you in the end if they could kill you before, but the fight will actually take some time due to the actual just tangible amount of time required to burn through that much hp.


what this does is mimic battle spirit now, only instead of reducing damage, your increasing hp.

HOWEVER:

battle spirit disproportionally nerfs dps builds over tank builds. tank stats and health are not cut in half, while dps is. this means its really efficient to stack tank stats in pvp compared to damage.

I think if everyone had normal pve stats, but just a massive amount of health the overall feel of combat would be better.

fights would take a bit longer just on the basis of having to eat through that amount of hp, however the actual fight and reaction time would be more reasonable. you would see your hp going down over the course of the fight and be able to try and react accordingly, and dps could actually visually see their damage vs the targets healing on a large bar rather then the spikey 100 to 0 we have now.

I don't know, thoughts? I would love to try it.

    That might, possibly, seem like a good idea in a duel. Maybe.

    Throw that into a Battlegrounds, and you get something worse than CP BGs, where you can't effectively kill your opponent in a decent length of time.

    In Cyrodiil, what would happen is that an organized raid with coordinated healers now has 50-100k health each, constant healing if they need it, group buffs, and now more damage. Their opponents are still unorganized zergs, with more health, but no more organization or teamwork than before.

    Everything would just take loooonger because you've increased health by a much higher factor than you did damage. That sort of knock down, drag em out fighting is one of the reasons CP BGs got reverted.


    If this is intended to respond to a perceived problem with ganking or a low TTK, honestly...you need better situational awareness, you need to be healing proactively in fights, and you need to practice more until you can recognize commonly used skills which will increase your reaction time. Much of PVP reactions are less "I see this, I use this skill in response" and more "I see X skill, so my opponent is a sorc, which means their next combo is Y and Z, so I do A and B right now." Or like ganking - I get hit on my mount and don't think I can outrun it? Block, roll dodge, heal - immediately, without waiting to see my health bar drop.

    It does take practice. When I was learning to PVP on my healer, I wore Plague Doctor, running around with 45k health until I learned how to survive. Now I run with 28k health in light armor and have about the same survivability...because now I know what I'm doing.

    So if you need to learn how to survive, fight, and learn to recognize common tactics and your response to them, by all means, go tanky. But I think trying to make all of PVP get tons of extra health is not the right way to do it.

    Burst will be %100 useless. People will slot dots and hots. Every fight will be sustain fight.

    Tanks can stun the dd and kill them very fast without battle spirit. Imagine enemy have 12,5k health, 1 leap and little more burst=dead.

    pretty quick if you were stacking 15k tooltips with everyone losing 50% dmg mitigation instantly lol.
    15k crits, does 1.4 modifer after impen, becomes 21000. 100k divided by 21000 is roughly 4 attacks. Frags, curse, light attack, shock reach, dawnbreaker and a target will drop lol.

    Battlespirit helps pvp more than people want to admit.

    Would it eliminate health bonus food? What good is another 5k health added to 70k when your other stats could definitely use more of everything in a longer fight?

    Duels between 2 good players on squishy builds already take 20 to 30 up to 50 minutes, in your meta nobody besides pugs will be killable.
    TTK nowadays is in alltime high I dont know why you re even suggesting it considering we are in such a Tank meta already. You just have to get good.

    You’re looking at this backwards. TTK is at an all time high because everyone is forced to spec like a tank (unless you’re a sorc with broken burst).

    Tanks are supposed to have a hard time killing anyone, instead it’s the status quo for almost all classes. PvP for almost all classes is tank up and wait to try and burst someone.

    Take away the weapon damage buff on sword and board, change battle spirit to a 10k health buff instead of 5k and add a mundus stone for crit resists and bam. Problem solved, and pvp is more accessible for pve players because they don’t have to collect a full set of impenetrable gear.

    100k is excessive, but changing it to 10k makes sense.

    Nobody would die anymore, as they would all use health based heals like dark cloak or dragon blood. Why do you want PvP but without killing anyone?
