This is the best answer for chat as it overrides the vanilla settings. It also saves chat from logout to login such as swapping characters.

Although I keep the settings set per character instead of using the setting within the addon where you can have one character use the settings from another. My chat bar would randomly stretch across the screen when I used that setting and I have no issues when I do not. I think Joviex was able to transfer settings to my other characters but you would have to check to make sure.

It's more or less up to date and worked alright for me.
