Hey all, I have a pretty simple question about this ability. Why on earth is it not a zombie ability? Considering we can already summon a skeleton, would it not add more diversity to the undead the necromancer can summon? Not to mention being able to raise a zombie is like necromancy 101. That and, surely I can't be the only one that immediately thought: "Wow why isnt that a zombie" when seeing what the blastbones does?
It literally runs up to people and explodes, why not raise a zombie that leaps into your enemy before exploding and dealing disease damage or something?
Even better, they could rework the ability entirely and make it the melee pet for the necromancer. It could work like this:
"Raise a zombie for x (I have no clue how long this is just a rough concept) seconds that charges at your enemy and attacks them with melee swipes. When their time is up, they explode and deal disease damage to all that are around them" It looks like a normal zombie, but the race appearance changes much like the skeleton. The reanimation ultimate morph that summons blastbones can still summon blastbones btw, just now they'll be their own thing.
The morphs could look something like this:
Morph 1: Instead of attacking your enemy for X seconds, the zombie charges after your enemy and leaps at them when close, only to explode and deal disease damage to all enemies caught in it's blast. The disease damage from the explosion is increased with this morph. I feel like for this one the zombie could be like, radiating or oozing poison/obvious disease stuff
Morph 2: The zombie becomes a harder hitting, faster, and stronger undead. Basically this would make the zombie run towards the enemy a lot faster, be tankier, and deal more melee damage over the duration it's summoned. At the end of the time, it still explodes. Also I was thinking for this one, the zombie you raise could be equipped with a sword and perhaps some armor to make it look different.
So you'd get the options of either having immediate burst damage or increasing your damage output over time.
Nonetheless, what do you all think? IMO it'd provide a lot more flavor to the class and plus it'd make those people that think the necromancer doesn't summon enough stuff happy as well. I mainly got this idea due to the fact the very first necromancy spell you learn in ANY ES game ever is "Raise dead" and it summons a zombie and I found it kind of silly that our necromancer can't do this for some reason. Especially since the class trailer is full of necromancers summoning zombies, FOR SOME REASON.
