We need Perfected vMA weapons!

Purpose: It’s a new challenge, introduces new life into a part of the game that is dead for many of those who get the item they need and never do again.

vMA weapons could use a makeover anyways and this could be a solid launching point for doing so.

How: Make only attainable through No Death and No Sigils

    And reward should be player's choice of weapon? :trollface:

    We're already busting our arses to get the drop we want while wading through crap. .. Why add another layer of difficulty (essentially vma HM) and mainstay the rng. Surely that's just enhancing the frustration?

    This would be great, just add the 1pc set bonus back onto these. I’d actually enjoy a reason to go into vMA again. Just wouldn’t want the old ones nerfed in order to make the Perfected. I also think no death is too specific of a requirement. No sigils would be fine, or just make Perfected drop from vet and give normal Maelstrom weapons to normal Maelstrom (like Asylum, Blackrose and Sunspire gear).

    No, the "perfected" system should be completely abolished. If you want more equipment discrepancy go play WoW.

    If you made it so a no death/no sigil run dropped an item that would allow you to upgrade an existing weapon to perfected, I suppose I would be game for that.

    If they made it so I had to re-farm everything from scratch, I would wish eternal hellfire and damnation on whomever had the final say on implementation.

    It isn't a good idea.
    Maybe 0.5% of all players who completed Vet Maelstrom also managed to do No Death run.
    Also, not using any Sigils is too difficult for most players.
    There shouldn't be top gear locked behind near impossible feats.

    To be fair if they follow perfected system they would need to make Normal drop drop what we have now and veteran regardless of score drop Perfected.

    Not long ago someone alluded to a Class Rep saying Zos was considering the idea but the idea seemed to be on hold until they were able to work on adding another difficulty level. I assume that means HM of both vDSA and vMA.

    Of course this is someone repeating what a class rep said. Rumor. Even if the class rep said that Zos has made it clear recently that unless it comes directly from them (Zos) it is meaningless.

    They should just give us back the 1-piece bonuses on the Maelstrom weapons we already have.

    It's ridiculous to think we should go re-grind ancient content to get back a bonus that we used to have but they took away from us.

    vMA It is easy enough, no need to add this or even an imperfect version for normal.

    If Zos did anything I could see an imperfect version at the very least.

    Finish and add Stage 10 to the Arena:

    - Stage 9 rewards you with a Maelstrom Weapon and you have the option to either leave or continue
    - Stage 10 rewards you with an upgrade token to turn any Maelstrom Weapon you have into their Perfected version

    Entertaining the idea that this could be a good thing....

    Read the scroll at the beginning. The whole trial would be hardmode instead of last boss only.

    Much like Orsinium started out being the only scaled zone when everything else was still leveled before One Tamriel; this is how all further Hardmodes should be implemented for dungeons and trials. Not just the last boss fight.

    It could even breathe life back into Fungal Grotto, Darkshade Caverns, and City of Ash.

    Why does everyone want to feel special by putting perfected maelstrom weapons behind even harder versions of vMA. The precedent for arenas was already set by black rose prison that normal would drop non-perfected and vet would drop perfected. They should simply do the same for for maelstrom and dragon star arena. Those buffs are currently completely out of reach for the overwhelming majority and honestly since Summerset are not strong enough to justify this gap. For those that are able to complete vet getting better gear for their time encourages doing it again or more although I am strongly in the camp that they should change all currently dropped maelstrom and master gear into perfected gear to account for time already spent. If you want a hm added it should be for score chasing completionists only.

    Not quite sure what you mean by this. Are you saying that easy content and difficult content should drop exactly the same gear? I disagree with that extent, but I think we can go almost that far, to where most players will not notice the difference between normal gear and perfect gear. In fact this is precisely what the “Perfected” gear system accomplishes. Prior to imperfect versions of gear, normal simply did not drop the items you might want (like nMA giving no Maelstrom weapons). The introduction of imperfect and perfect versions that could be given out on normal and vet respectively was a great step in the right direction for Asylum and Blackrose. You seem to be viewing it as “nAS would give the same drops as vAS without the Perfected system” where really its “nAS would give no useful loot at all without the Perfected system”.

    Add a new effect to all current maelstrom weapon and rename them perfected

    Create an imperfected version for normal wich would have the current effect(without the would be new bonus)

    Rince and repeat for dragon star arena

    Update the asylum weapon to work like black rose
    So imperfect get perfected current effect and perfected get a bonus stat

    This. I actually love vMA, but I farmed enough inferno staves so that I'd have 3 for each magicka character and there's no way in hell I'm repeating that grind due to a terrible implementation.

    A good implementation imo is to have a hardmode (unlocked after beating regular vet) where at the end quest turn in you are presented with the option to upgrade one of your existing maelstrom weapons to perfected version. Alternatively, this could be an additional quest reward for doing no-death.

    Then again, the idea of perfect vMA weapons has terrifying implications for power creep since we're already pushing 60k solo dps as is...

    No, I'm not interested in refarming.

    What I wouldn't object to is

    Either
    1) If you complete it no death, you get the choose the item (No choice on trait)
    2) All present vMA weapons get renamed 'Perfect' and normal drops a pissy version of the vMA weapon.

    If they ever decide they want me back in the Arena, ZOS can implement an Armory system for arena weapons, like functioning similar to 'collectibles', then I'd collect them all, in all their traits.

    I wish they would randomize the adds quite a bit. It's adorable that people can put traps and aoes down before things spawn, but instead of making it outright harder, they should make everyone play it like an action video game where you read and react instead of just memorizing the whole thing. To me that would be much more fun and worthy of a new weapon.

    The OP presented this idea as a way to get people interested in Maelstrom arena again. Being able to upgrade an existing weapon defeats the stated purpose. There might be an uptick in running Maelstrom for a week or two then it goes back to levels it is at now.
    That said I am not buying the reason presented. Maelstrom is a solo instance so whether other people are doing it or not has no impact on any one player. I'm guessing the real motive is wanting better weapons locked behind difficult content for an advantage in PvP. Just my guess.
    It was presented as a way to increase interest in Maelstrom though and to do that it would have to be heavily RNG dependent.

    Also, to be clear. I really dont think we need perfected VMA weapons. And if they decided tomorrow that they were definitely coming, I think it would be healthier for the game to upgrade existing weapons to perfected and drop non-perfected weapons in normal.

    PVE DPS is getting out of hand as you pointed out, I am also not sure I could handle the forum outcry if they made an even more powerful weapon even harder to obtain. I dont know what the % of the population is that has done no-sigil flawless runs, but I know it is NOT very big. Haha.

    The introduction of perfected vma weapons... well... why not. BUT add some tickets/token to upgrade old ones if you finish it.
    Or let me use transmutation stones for upgrading.... something like that.
    Like 5 runs/50stones = upgrading an old one, same trait as before.

    No, that's not how it should work.

    Perfected weapons should come from Vet mode and the imperfect versions should drop on Normal mode.

    All current weapons should be automatically upgraded to Perfect because they dropped from Vet mode.

    Ok but you have to do it on Stamplar!!!

    With the differences in classes in vma (just look at the leaderboards) it would be very unfair to put such requirements out.

    I think no sigil would be the most fair.
