Elemental weapon

I'm a tad confused on strategy and tactics for a DPS Magicka sorcerer.

From what I have researched, at this time, Elemental weapon, from the Psijiic skilline should be the main spammable. But, Elemental weapon is stamina based. So, my question is - Why?

Is it the combo that makes it effective? Does it help with sustain? Or am I missing something?

The original ability Imbue Weapon is a stamina based ability, but Elemental Weapon is the magicka convert morph while Crushing Weapon is the alternate and is still stamina based
