Necromancer dissapointment

Kraken13

I was hoping for the "Puppet Master" type of Necromancer, lots of minions ("Undead" and "Horde" are words that are cool together), powerfull (but less, unique) minions, a limited ability to tank with said minions, ability to heal himself (only) and its minions at the expense of enemies, fear and terror, ability to buff own resistance and strenght (both "know" necro abilities), some mechanics that used souls stones and some synergy with the Soul Skill line. I know it sounds like a traditional necro, but that with a more complex version of current crime system for necros, a diffrent way of npcs to treat you and some new unique opportunites for the class might do for a truly unique experience.

What do I see ? A class that Tanks like a Dragonknight (Sword and Board and all), heals everyone like a commom Healer and deals all types of possible damage puting Sorcerers to shame.
Its simply too unfocused to much like everything I saw before and with a clear lack of specialization (good to please everyone so they buy Elsweyr) its much like a jack-of-all-trades, please them all class, hence my dissapointment.

Just different graphics for same results, a half baked necro crime system and a simple system of using corpses are not in my opining enough to be different.

I have not tried the PTS. all info I have are from videos and comments on the forums, so my views maybe are distorted, also I do not have much time playing the game nor do i consider me well versed in the world lore, I also really dont care much for class balance.

thats like watching a movie trailer and saying "i've seen the film now why bother", i would suggest trying the PTS then draw a conclusion based on that experience, not write a post based on someone elses

The only disappointing thing is that you have formulated your opinion based on what others have said and done. If you don't want to put in a little work to test it out yourself, then really go make a cookie cutter build that everyone makes on a class that is proven.

ZOS lied about the "hordes" part.

This description of Necromancer is from the Elder Scrolls Online website: "Imbue the dead with frost, fire, and lightning to bring ruin upon your enemies. Raise relentless hordes of the undead and allow your fallen enemies to intensify your unyielding assault."

Where have you heard that you can't unleash a horde?

That's the point of trailers is it not ? To know where to spend your time and money. If the trailer is not good I wont go and see the movie.

As far now the necro "trailer" has been very much any other on ESO, so the disappointment.

Ok I saw several videos on skills and most skills are not really something new quite the contrary some stuff new graphics, based on said skills only 2 new mechanics are available for necro. A "Crime" system (summon a skeleton in from of a guard and get punished) extremely bare in my opinion and the use of Corpses to add power to skills (and you can even make the corpses) again very bare. If you feel that is enough for a new different class of, I do not, its simply more of the same (and the possibilities both for RPG and Mechanics are immense), as for "proven class" as I said I couldn't care less for "power, balance, usefulness in a group" a good class is both unique and fun. To date uniqueness seems to be lacking.

Err...Yes you can repeat the summons but don't consider a "horde" (knowing that 100+ zombies tines 20 necros would likely crash the game) to be below 5, and I don't think with current skills you can have 5 minions all at once.

@Kraken13 I think the same way as you and every real necromancer fan does so. Eso´s Necro is a whole shame because the most important ability of a necro (which is massive control over undead) was not implemented as saif before.

But you wont get much positive Feeback here, because in this forum there are just ESO Fanboys who buy EVERYTHING they can get, no matter if it fits the role or not.

Maybe they rework Necro in a year or so, but i dont think so.

@ rest of you: You just dont have a clue what a necromancer is about. Stop arguing like "If the necro has pets, sorc is useless / If the necro has many pets, performance will die" MiMiMiMi

Game already lags so hordes were not possible. Think if 20 players raise 10 skeletons each at cyro. Patato servers turn in to baked patato.

But for rest, I agree. It feels reskiny and it dont have many new mechanics. Warden were already jack of all trades, necro seems similar too.

The class isn’t on live yet but somehow it’s a disappoint? The engine can’t handle all the pets on screen at once. People asking for horde mode necro need to consider lag and frame rate drops that their pet army would create.

Yeah, anyone who disagrees with you must be an ESO fanboi and should not be listened to, no matter how valid their argument is.

I am disappointed because, while I didn't expect hordes, I expected a true pet class. lots of scenes (and even the pic on the deep dive blog post) show skeletons rigged for combat. Nope...not this necro class.
