Sorry, it takes me a while to manually capture all the information and upload the new furniture pictures to my blog. It also gives people a few minutes to flog the new items before my posts are published online.

This system needs a revamp of some kind. There are so many items that have never been listed in the vendor.

    This.

Why not just take the item off the table until all things have been cycled through?

You can keep it random, but let's say Ebon drops. Now, you don't see Ebon again until everything else has cycled through.

At least it'll guarantee that everything has a chance to be in the Golden, and still keeping the RNG element of surprise.

    eh...horrible

I am wondering if they should only have helmets since you can get the shoulders more easily? Twice the frequency of helmets would also increase the chance for something good...

Maybe one of those days i will get the Zaan or Thurvokun helmet....

Ebon was one of the first jewellery sets I golded out.

A genuinely useful, long term tanking set. Well worth the money/AP.

Exactly the sort of set that should appear more regularly to encourage those who are just beginning to get golden.

I got my Zaan the hard way. More rewarding like that.

ZOS needs to update the drop list... have they even touched it in the last year? WHERE IS ZAAN?!

And don't tell me Scalecaller Peak is easy or whatever. I had to wait almost an hour tonight in the queue, and when we got to Zaan, everyone gave up after 3 or 4 wipes. I was so pissed!

The mechanics for all these DLC dungeons are ridiculously complicated. It also doesn't help that many of the guys who want to run these dungeons are rude and impatient and expect you to know everything the first time.

Don’t queue for vSCP. Go in with guildies. SCP is very easy — the mechanics aren’t bad af all.

If you're on PC/EU, poke me. It's not hard to put together a no-sweat, relaxed run without any pressure.

As for the topic - pondering on Ebon, though I usually run it on body to leave jewelry for other sets (that might be medium armor). But never know ahead of time what combinations could come handy.

I don't know why people tell this lie. vSCP is NOT easy. And yes. I've done it and got my Zaan helm. But it is nowhere as easy as people like I quoted makes it out to be. If it was, you wouldn't be having people on the forums begging for it to be cycled in the Golden or always stating how hard the dungeon is.

It is a very easy dungeon. Maybe you're not as good as you think, or you've done it with bad groups.

It's a yes and no thing. vSCP (non-HM anyway) does take some getting used to its mechanics, but after that, it's easy. Thing about it, mechanics is all that there is. No dps checks. Not a whole lot of unwarranted one-shots - if vSCP one-shots, then it's not for failure to dodge a random badly telegraphed attack from a usual mob (looking at you, Wolfhunter dungeons), but for failure to follow mechanics. It's even forgiving to lack of group coordination once everyone understood what they're doing. The issue with people complaining is that - common problem with vet DLCs - most pugs get easily disheartened by wipes and give up after just a few, and getting a grasp on mechanics takes longer than that. If they stuck around, relaxed and practiced a bit more (and I always encourage people to just relax, feel no pressure and have fun), they'd have been surprised how they were managing to wipe so hard before.

Ok, vSCP is not as easy as vFG1, i give you that, but if everyone knows what to do is not difficult at all.
What makes that dungeon difficult is having bad teammates.

At this point, ESO is inundated with sets, and each update and expansion just pours more on the heap. At least 50% of them are basically useless and no one equips them, except people who are new to the game and do not understand how things work.

About 25% of the sets are useless because there is some other set that offers the same functionality but does it better, so the only reason to use them is as a placeholder while you are still gathering the actual set you want to use. And some of these "place holder" sets are harder to farm than the actual good set that you want to use. So they get pretty much totally ignored. About 20% of the sets are the sort that are not utterly useless, but definitely not optimal, and are mostly used in off the wall quirky builds that go for something different.

You can get to something like 98% effectiveness with these weird builds compared to meta, and get the benefit of unpredictability in PVP or just the coolness of doing things differently in PVE, but even so... you still take a bit of a hit in your maximum potential for not running with the cookie cutter gear setups that is the current meta. Unless the current meta does not suit your personal preferences in playstyle, in which case an oddball build may work better for you and some of these crappy sets might be really valuable to you personally.

That leaves just roughly speaking 5% of the sets that are actually useful and valuable, and something that 90% of the player base uses.

So obviously the golden is gonna be selling crap nearly all the time. Even with the increased number of items on display, most of it is not worth buying, and the best you can hope each week, is to get one of those semi-useful bits for some odd build or another, that you think about tinkering with.

ZOS loves RNG. It is used in everything in this game, and everything is build to drip feed you stuff, in the outdated belief that it somehow increases the "re-playability" of the content. (It doesn't - it just frustrates people for wasting their time - content needs to be worth doing for it's own sake, because it's fun and exciting and challenging, not because there is a minuscule possibility of a trinket at the end.) So you will just wait and wait and wait, until you finally get fed up with this stupidity of design and go do something else.

ZOS needs to wake the hell up, and stop with this nonsensical belief that systems like the golden somehow prolong player base activity, instead of just generating frustration within the community, which is not a healthy thing for retention of players in the long run.

If ZOS want to retain a mechanic like the golden, then they need to redesign it so that it actually serves a purpose. I have some ideas on that... but no, I am not going to spend an hour or so writing them up, thinking about the pros and cons, and evaluating impact of various mechanics, trying to formulate a more effective and rewarding system that encourages player activity and works to increase player base retention while minimizing frustration of an RNG based system. That's what I pay ZOS to do! It's their frigging job, and they need to wake the hell up, and realize that this mechanic is not functioning, and people are pissed about it, and it seriously needs a redesign. ASAP! Preferably yesterday.
