Zos, Why can't we use collectible hair in Character Creation?

My character is a Dunmer which is a vampire but I love to use disguises to hide vampirism.. however it shows the hair I gave her through CC. I would like to be able to make a collectible hair as my characters default hair but we are unable to.. why is it like this..?

Not sure I understand this. Collectible hair can be used in CC.

No you can't. Collectible hairs aren't available to use in character creation, only the base vanilla hairs for each race are. You have to manually select Collectible hairstyles once your character spawns in-game. Even using an appearance change token afterward won't let you select Collectible hairstyles from the list.
    Character List [RP and PvE]:
Stands-Against-Death: Argonian Magplar Healer - Crafter
Krisiel: Redguard Stamsorc DPS - Literally crazy Werewolf, no like legit insane. She nuts
Kiju Veran: Khajiit Stamblade DPS - Ex-Fighters Guild Suthay who likes to punch things, nicknamed Tinykat
Niralae Elsinal: Altmer Stamsorc DPS - Young Altmer with way too much Magicka
Sarah Lacroix: Breton Magsorc DPS - Fledgling Vampire who drinks too much water
Slondor: Nord Tankblade - TESified verson of Slenderman
Marius Vastino: Imperial <insert role here> - Sarah's apathetic sire who likes to monologue
Delthor Rellenar: Dunmer Magknight DPS - Sarah's ex who's a certified psychopath
Lirawyn Calatare: Altmer Magplar Healer - Traveling performer and bard who's 101% vanilla bean
Gondryn Beldeau: Breton Tankplar - Sarah's Mages Guild mentor and certified badass old person
Gwendolyn Jenelle: Breton Magplar Healer - Friendly healer with a coffee addiction
Soliril Larethian- Altmer Magblade DPS - Blind alchemist who uses animals to see and brews plagues in his spare time
Tevril Rallenar: Dunmer Stamcro DPS - Delthor's "special" younger brother who raises small animals as friends
Celeroth Calatare: Bosmer <insert role here> - Shapeshifting Bosmer with enough sass to fill Valenwood

    PC - NA - EP - CP1000+
Avid RPer. Hit me up in-game @Ras_Lei if you're interested in getting together for some arr-pee shenanigans!

I agree. Once I unlock a hairstyle through the crown store it should be available in character creation.

    Agreed. It should be available.

This would be a great addition. It also makes sense to add this from a business standpoint because there will be some of us who do character change tokens to get our default hair one of the unlocked ones.

Exactly, and I very much would.

Because it's not real hair, it's a wig, really. Since you cannot go back to the character creator without paying, they made it so that people can use their bought hairs at will. It's not ideal, but...

I'm missing something. Once the character comes into play you are going to change the hair to the collections hair style.

So what is the big deal? I do it all the time.

The "official" answer would probably be that disguises aren't meant to be used except for very brief moments in their associated quests, so it doesn't matter if they mess with your appearance a little.

They likely want to discourage people from using them as "free costumes" as well, because it might mean fewer Crown Store sales.

I’m with you,OP. This would be a fantastic option. I recall being very excited about the Barbaric Windblown hairstyle. My enthusiasm for it deflated faster than a pricked boob job when I found out that it did not look good with my Nord’s rather asymmetrical face nor with my Orc’s snarly ferocity, which are the two races I associate with barbarism. Being able to create a face around a hairstyle would be a most welcome addition.

    Because "disguises".
There are several types of "costumes" in the game : disguises, costumes and outfits.
Costumes and outfits retain your currently selected hairstyle, while disguises override custom hairstyle and show the hairstyle you chose at character creation.

Or they could sell the disguises as "costumes" in the crown store, in a version that wouldn't override everything.

Character creation has to be standardized, which is why it probably won't deviate from base game options plus account upgrades.

The Collections tab has a far more comfortable interface for expansion, while not advertising styles that are no longer available.

Other MMOs have done it. Swtor for example. It can be done.

It is a problem actually. If you use a Disguise your hair will revert to its original CC appearance. That means any hair you selected via Collections will not show up while in that Disguise. For Vampires using a disguise to hide their vampirism, that means they cant use the hair style they may want.

Sure, but in gameplay terms, it acts like a wig. I know, immersion has been ruined forever!

I also would think it might be good to have all hair (and other options) you bought available in chargen!

If only so you can see how the character yopu are making will look with the options you imagine for them before you finish making them...
      Acrolas wrote: »

...but could be expanded with additional options. I mean, what does a slider care if it has ten selections, or twenty, or fifty... in the end, its all just a pile of data as to which one of the options was selected for that character, right?

You can't use anything that exists solely in your Collections in character creation, so why should it be any different just for collectable hair?

Additionally, as soon as your character is created, you can immediately open Collections to use any of its contents, so why would such an option even matter?
