Surveys vanishing from inventory if you get DC'ed.

I noticed today that if you get disconnected, while standing where one of your surveys is, when you log back in, the survey will be gone from your inventory, as if you gathered it, even though you didn't.
In the past I have left surveys with say 1 thing left to gather, because I missed node #6 or whatever, and have been able to go back and get that node. The survey would not vanish from my inventory until I collected it all.
When I lost a survey from getting disconnected, I decided to test it further. About 1 out of 20 times, even if you don't gather any of the nodes, if you log out while standing at a survey location, you lose that survey. On the other hand, if you gather just 1 node from the survey, then log out and back in, the survey is gone from your inventory 100% of the time.
Considering the number of disconnects the game is having lately, this is could be a big issue. Like many players, some days I am getting disconnected, or kicked back to the login screen, several times a day. Some days it is a couple times an hour. I tend to save surveys up, and do a bunch in one day. So far today, in a matter of about two hours, I got disconnected 3 times. It cost me 3 surveys. If I continue to do surveys today, which I won't given it is a "bad disconnect day", I could potentially lose a lot of mats.
Shouldn't there be something that keeps you from losing a survey just because of a DC?

✭✭✭✭✭As soon as you harvest the first node, the survey is considered used and is deleted. That way you can't gather a few nodes, alt f4 out, then log back in and repeat. It's not a bug, it's an anti-cheat measure.1 -

✭✭✭✭I’ve also lost whole surveys because the game kicked me as I got to the location (but before I could harvest anything). Upon logging back in all nodes and the surveys were gone.
If you haven’t used any nodes, the survey shouldn’t be deleted, dc or not. I don’t see any way it would allow an exploit if the survey persisted until after the first node was harvested. Otherwise we risk losing everything.
The better solution is of course to resolve the frequent disconnects and avoid the issue entirely...0
