Necromancer “Balancing” (Nerfs) Has Already Begun

Prepare for Magden 2.0. Notable adjustments: less max health (a sorc passive likely scales better as it’s a flat percent), worse sustain, higher ultimate costs. No combat notes were added to enlighten us as to why these changes occurred, either. Still one more PTS cycle to go, too.

Like many of you I should’ve learned my lesson from the Warden’s struggles, but here we are. At least MagDK looks to be top of the heap again. We’re back to the glory days of 2015!!! Including uncapped AOE Inhale spam. Yay?

Edit: Somehow amidst all the nerfs the resurrection skill was not adjusted to have a target cooldown (just a cost increase). That doesn’t fix the issue of it being spammable in organized groups.

Trying to remember where I ran across this originally, but from what I understand, the plan was to avoid the mistakes of the Warden, overtune the hell out of the Necro on PTS, and then bring it down before it made it to live.

That’s a completely bizarre way to balance. Why not slowly turn the dials down? Now we’re going to end up with some watered down and useless class that sits there for three month increments while ZoS decides what the heck to do with it.

That sounds familiar, I think a class rep said that on one of the discord servers I'm on.

less max health - would have put them far ahead after the food nerfs when mixed with orc for stam dps. Probably needed a nerf, but wouldn’t hurt to make it 750/1500 instead of 5.0.2’s values

worse Sustain placed in different passive that rewards active combat, it has no cooldown anymore. About the same for 4 man dungeons and add heavy trials, not as good on dummies or solo fights. However, the new Reusable Parts parts makes sustain in those scenarios better so net even

higher ultimate costs - needed, the revival was far too effective for that cost, but probably a little too high. 275-300 would be a better easier adjustment

When I see how overtuned necro was on the PTS then these Nerfs were needed.

The higher cost for the Resurrection ultimate had to happen. Otherwise they were going to have to nerf it into uselessness. I would rather pay 335 for a ultimate that works on a whole dungeon party of pugs than 200 for something that only rezzes one guy.

Have you done any PTS testing yourself, @Peekachu99?

Or is your whole opening post shooting from the hip?

By the way, there’s at least two more PTS weeks before ZOS signs off on an early access ... but that’s s big “if” ...

Have you even used necro on pts? Its damage and survivability were beyond ridiculousness, it was the most op thing I have ever seen after continuous meteros casts. It had to happen, it was beyond broken.

Someone got 110k health on nerco. Idk losing just a bit won't hurt it.

The fact that people are actually crying about necro’s beyond broken abilities being nerfed astonishes me

I'm not happy with all of the nerfs this year, but necro was ridiculous and needed to be toned down.

I didn't test it a whole lot but considering they have a healing line, dps line, and tanking line (idk how effective the tanking one is? haven't seen alot of ppl talking abt necro tank) but even having things like a healing skill line + a class rez skill makes it pretty powerful but that and having good dps and I can imagine the tanking is probably pretty decent >_> Yeah I think some nerfs are okay.

How many people believe the bugged abilities and pets etc where actually the necromancer?

Because it wasn't, all of the "OMG OP" posts were a direct result of big massive bugs (same way pet sorc got over 100k dps)

But don't worry, the mantra of having every class (finally now NB too) making you want to use a different class will be continued!

Why do you compare the Sorcerer health passive with the Necromancer health passive ? The Necromancer passive has no condition, it's always active. While the Sorcerer passive is only active while you a pet summoned. Which not everyone does and those who do, can loose it when their pet dies.

1250 health with % is not far behind 8% health also. My tank build gains 2k health from the Sorcerer passive, who has lots of base health. The Necromancer passives gives me over 1600 health for no condition and without investing into base health.

They did well to reduce this passive. It was way too good.

What...you thought ZOS was going to launch Necro in it's current OP states, and let players have a god mode class compared to everyone else? lol...of course they were going to tune the class.

Just seeing the word nerf triggers some people.

The class has a god tier ulti that does huge damage and applies major vuln for 5s... I think it'll be fine if it isn't a tank too on DPS spec.

I’ve been a tester (and bug reporter) for each and every PTS, including this one, so do be quiet. The class played fine and required a degree of micromanagement to get it to work. They’re also lacking quite a few major buffs so you need to stack your bar with other skill lines or make uncommon gear choices. The bugged multipliers on certain skills led to the whole OPness argument (delusion).

Anyway, they’ve succeeded in Warden 2.0. Now all the nerf babies can cheer from their prams.

Nah the nerf babies will cry even louder when it hits live and they die to a necromancer
