Everything part of a set, generally 2 five piece full sets. Pick stam & weapon damage.
You could pick magicka & spell damage but it’s often underwhelmed by comparison. This is somewhat pre-determined by your race & class.

    Make everything of purple quality.
    Make all armor impenetrable trait.

You’ll still get wrecked as a newbie, but it’s a start.

I'm using a warden with 2h and bow, (stam) shimmering shield and werewolf hide/mech acutity for crits and ult gen. eventually i'll get balorghs for more synergy.

I'm having more success in pvp than ever before with this character although theres still some improvements I'm sure which can be made.
Playing your character the way your character should play is all that matters. Play as well as you can but never betray the character. Doing so would make playing an mmoRPG pointless.

There really isn’t a specific class that’s good for new players. It doesn’t matter so much, as no class is so powerful that it will protect you when you don’t know what you’re doing. What do you like to play? Ranged or melee? Magicka or stamina?

Magicka Templar is an easy beginner class, breath of life is a god send, aswell as cleanse. So you get some room for error.

If youre new to pvp, you want to learn to survive for decent periods of time while in battles (even if you lose) at first so you get an idea of whats actually going on. Then youll find it easier to get kills, rather than some who enter pvp have no idea what theyre doing and expect to be able to get kills relatively easily.

    magsorc or stam warden.

But honestly, play the class you want. As a novice, there's no class that can carry you to competitive levels quickly, so the best advice is to play your favorite class, and learn as you play.

If you’re in groups then stamden/magplar

Petsorc is good solo or in groups

NB‘s are being nerfed so i won’t recommend them, and they’re not as easy to play as everyone claims they are

You’re going to be bad..then at some point you’ll realize your mistakes and improve, join a pvp guild and that will help

Honestly, i still use my pve characters in pvp i didn’t make separate characters for it 🤗

I'd say stamden is the easiest class to pull decent success with little effort. Just run the classic 2h + s/b setup, use dizzing swing and subtereanean, learn how to manage your buffs, and you should be set to not die too fast while having easy access to kill pressure.

I'd say bow gank originally. You used to have a medium floor on effectiveness and a medium ceiling on effectiveness. There's a relatively low entry skill level and a pretty dang high skill cap e.g. Ovenface. Not sure if it'll work out ok next patch. It gives you the option to not PvP and get some AP and the chance to go in and sorta PvP when desired. Already the tank meta makes it a bit iffy without the upcoming nerfs so...

Magsorc IMO is the highest performing spec with the least skill right now bar none, but requires some hard content for the gear. Bowgank you could buy Marksman/Hawks Eye and throw on some weapon damage/pen heads and shoulders and call it a day.

Dizzy swing may be one of the worst/hardest to use skills in this game at this point. Any half decent player will block, roll dodge or simply move around too much to lock a dizzy swing in. And you’re entire kill burst depends on landing it. Spin to win is the new dizzy swing and I think it’s not going to be much worse at all next patch. Might even be better.

easiest class to start without getting to much rekt are magplar, followed by stamblade. Both are not easy to master, but you can have a decent survavibility with it pretty quickly.

I see. A fair few comments here saying that it doesn't really matter as the learning curve is big anyway. (Which is fair enough)

I have noticed that 2H seems to be more common in PvP over PvE, because PvE DW meta. Would I be correct in thinking that 2H is a decnt choice for PvP?

Stamina Warden is pretty good to start with.

A lot of damage, great sustain, amazing healing, extra health, crystalised shield to help with ranged attackers, minor protection, lot of undodgeable attacks, movement speed, burst heal if you don't want to use rally.

It has a gap closer (Critical Charge and morphs), a snare remover with a heal over time and Major Brutality (Forward Momentum), a burst heal with a heal over time and Major Brutality (Rally), an execute (Reverse Slash and Morphs), an ultimate that removes armor value (Berserker Strike and morphs), an AOE bleed (Carve next patch) and a wonky stun and spammable (Dizzy Swings).

The real draw is Rally/Forward Momentum which are just jam packed value skills that save tremendous numbers of bar spaces. Two-handers are also often paired with a dual wield bar.

Spriggans jewelry and weapons (buy them cheap)

Shacklebreaker heavy armor on body (craft)

Bloodspawn monster set (light & medium for undaunted passive)

Go forth and try to conquer.

Yeah this is a good cookie cutter build for stam toons.

Every half decent player will kill OP anyways regardless of spec because he’s inexperienced. Still sub + dizzy becomes effective when it lands and is super easy. He’ll most likely group up anyways at which point the combo becomes even more dangerous if the enemy doesn’t see it coming.

I don’t expect him to win duelling tournaments with said spec

I'd recommend range and mobility. This will allow you to learn at a distance.

It's important to learn how to move about a battle, to pick spots, to stay with teams.

Best way to stay alive is with others. You'll get to last longer and learn more.

That being said, stamina bow, NBs, Sorc, and to less extent (mobility) Warden.

I just think running away will actually teach you more than you'd think
