Default Female Redguard Voice MUST Be Changed!

Ok, seriously, this "pig" noise that it makes *constantly* is ridiculous! Has ANY human ever made such a noise normally? One wonders whether there might even be something more .... sinister ... at play - it is, after all, a dark-colored race ...... makes one wonder whether there was a subtle intent on the developer for it. Maybe something ZOS should look into. Regardless though, it NEEDS to be changed - simply STUPID that it could even get included to begin with - I'm not aware of any other character voices being a snorting noise. I suspect that most people managed to avoid the use of it, but I have a friend who didn't know you could change voices and now she's stuck with a character she likes and a noise that makes you want to shoot yourself in the head!

No, the default voice should not be something so stupid and offensive. If you don't change the voice for it, this is what you get.

You could use one of the free race change tokens to change the voice. The race change tokens are like the appearance change with the option to change race. Tweak my altmer today using one.

No, it is not my audio settings (and it's not my character either) - I made the other post to inquire about the sound, and that was where I was informed it was the default female Redguard voice.

It is not something that should have been there in the first place. A honking/snorting "pig" noise for a dark-skinned female? How can that be anything other than offensive?

Okay, okay. I don't have sound enabled at all (other than music) for a variety of reasons - mostly because no dev out there is EVER going to understand, intuit, or program my toon's voices. So I still don't get your beef. You didn't run through the voices in the chargen screen I guess?

I realize that, thought the op may have missed it. Frankly I've never heard anything like what he is describing and find it ridiculous they're trying to play the race card.

The character voices choices are very close to each other. Their are more "aggressive" sounding ones, but they don't sound like a farm animal by any stretch. My female imperial actually sounds closer to an orc sometimes, but I wanted her to have the aggressive sound. The point is there are mechanisms in place to change that option, either via the free race change tokens, or by the appearance change tokens. Tons of folks use these when they don't get their character exactly right the first time.

"sexy" enough is not the same as offensive. It should not have been there in the first place.

Umm... It was "given" by zos, at "no cost" to the players, therefore it's "free" and it functions to change your character's appearance as well as race, as I said you can even refrain from changing the race to edit the appearance... Still not sure why your friend couldn't use that to change her toons voice?

A true friend, would have warned them of this, and as well provided some sort of guidance on how personal the character creation can be from looks to voice.

Far as I know there is no default voice. It gets randomized just like most other features upon creation.

I'm not sure what you're referring to, but have you considered you might have some degree of Misophonia? I do and some of the soft sounds in the game can irritate me when I'm wearing a headset. Snorting would fall into the category of soft sounds.

If she is a brand new character remake her and don’t forget to change the voice. You can bank all the items. If the account was made after Wrathstone update then you probably don’t have free tokens Zos gave us. If you don’t want to remake the character then you have to change appearances. In that case you’ll have to buy an appearance change token from crown store. There are people who will sell it to you in exchange for in game gold, but be careful.

Could you provide an example of the sound you're talking about? And I love how you jump immediately to the racism angle instead of just making it about preference. Maybe some people like that noises and don't think they're "piggish" in any way? And don't be angry at people who disagree with you or offer you some other solutions than making the big company change the voice that has been there for five years just because one person is offended. So either reroll the character and think of it as the lesson for the future to check out things in the character creation, use the free race change that was given away some time ago or buy appearance change, be it for $$ or for ingame gold (it should cost 300k to 400k).

As for the complaining that the free race change wasn't really free due to ZOS changing race passives. If you still have the tokens that means that the passive changes didn't bother you that much or you would've used the tokens up already.
If you're new enough that you missed getting them, well, you still have two options.

I agree with what others have pointed out. I gotta ask though, what makes you think that there aren't people around who want their characters to sound like that? You are saying it as if the option being available in itself is racism, but saying that "this race can't make sounds like that no matter what" sounds more racist to me. Some people might want to make a filthy, disgusting sounding character and who are you to tell them they are wrong to want that? So no, I don't think this voice option needs to go without ever having heard it or knowing for sure it even exists.
