I realize that, thought the op may have missed it. Frankly I've never heard anything like what he is describing and find it ridiculous they're trying to play the race card.
The character voices choices are very close to each other. Their are more "aggressive" sounding ones, but they don't sound like a farm animal by any stretch. My female imperial actually sounds closer to an orc sometimes, but I wanted her to have the aggressive sound. The point is there are mechanisms in place to change that option, either via the free race change tokens, or by the appearance change tokens. Tons of folks use these when they don't get their character exactly right the first time.

That is the result of them changing the race attributes - it is not the same as a "free" token.
