Why Take Away The Only Burst Heal from Nightblade Tanks?

With the proposed elimination of burst heal from Dark Cloak could you please explain to me why you eliminated the only Nightblade tank burst heal and a Nightblade Tank is suppose to heal through multiple burst damge sources without a burst heal. (This skill is pretty worthless to low health dps)
Nightblade Tanks rely on that skill to survive vet trials. Without it, you have eliminated the ability for Nightblades to tank. The core to this game is to have the ability to play any class any role.
That core tenent will not hold true for nightblade tanks.
If you take a 35k hit from Maja in Vet Cloudrest no healer downstairs and then another 35K shot 2 seconds later, the propsed heal over time in pts will not suffice.
It will not work in any vet trial.
Please explain the math please.

I have a templar tank. I use high spell damage to boost heal so I can block cast BOL. My heal sits at 10k tooltip, but heals for 22k crit. I pop ot 2x and my health is full.

Previously, this ability was providing a considerable amount of healing compared to what the tooltip implied, while also not providing a lengthy enough period of time to engage with the Minor Protection granted. Now with the duration increase, both the protection duration and the total healing will be improved, but over a longer period of time to prevent the "bursty" nature of the previous heal.

There was nothing wrong with the bursty nature of the heal. Everyone else has a bursty natural heal, but for some reason a nightblade tank isnt suppose to have one?

Interesting approach! I don't think I'll try that because I aim to stay true to my character concepts with gear choices, but a setup like that could be interesting for a different character.
Doing a nightblade tank sounds even harder than doing a templar tank - whether or not one places weird limits on what one uses like I do for concept reasons. I don't envy your challenge!0 -

You have to stop been adventurous trying to add as many DDs as possible to save couple of seconds (which you do not when people die like droves), and skim on important classes like healers and mechanics. In addition get Psijic order abilities, they are amazing to make self sustain tanks.
And definitely NB Tank is not, never will and never was a "self sufficient" tank to use alone with it's own toolkit.
And FYI. To do vet Cloudrest skimming on healers, you need Sorcerer tanks.

There is a morph that gives you major protection while channeling it if I remember correctly.0 -

Have you tanked with Nightblade b4, no healer with vigor?
Im curious if any of you have ever tried these concepts youre offering as advice.

Sure, back before Summerset and the revamp of dark cloak I probably had vigor slotted in case I couldn’t reapers mark something. For downstairs vCR on my tankblade I have dark cloak double slotted atm, so presumably if the change goes live as stated I’d just swap one out with vigor and pop both.
But vigor is definitely welcome in trials on tanks, especially for running PA.0 -

In addition get Psijic order abilities, they are amazing to make self sustain tanks.
And definitely NB Tank is not, never will and never was a "self sufficient" tank to use alone with it's own toolkit.
And FYI. To do vet Cloudrest skimming on healers, you need Sorcerer tanks.

My nighblade tank as is can tank Maja downstairs no healer. I have not needed to use Psyjiic Introspection for resources.
I do however use it on other tanks I have.
Nte, I have 2 sorc tanks. They are awesome as well.
There is no reason Nighblade tanks should not have access to burst heal like sorc pet, templar bol, warden healing seed, DK Green Dragons blood, all are tank burst heal.
Use Vigor. HoD/BoL is very inefficient to boot and only when is needed to heal others.
And as Templar you have comfortably more STA than you need, not only as pool but as regeneration also. So Vigor is far superior for Templars also.
You will be kicked from every Trial using vigor as a tank. And for good reason.
I’m gonna go out on a limb and say that’s probably not true, but let’s hear the reason.
Vigor is not burst heal. It a HOT.
Have you tanked with Nightblade b4, no healer with vigor?
Sure, back before Summerset and the revamp of dark cloak I probably had vigor slotted in case I couldn’t reapers mark something. For downstairs vCR on my tankblade I have dark cloak double slotted atm, so presumably if the change goes live as stated I’d just swap one out with vigor and pop both.
But vigor is definitely welcome in trials on tanks, especially for running PA.
I know vigor that scales more from weapon damage. I would have to resesrch that. I still feel its not a replacement for a burst heal.0 -

I think you’d mentioned you had a tankplar with potent BoLs due to high spell damage. If we do have to resort to vigor, maybe a similar build but with weapon damage could work for your tankblade.
And I should clarify, I’d much prefer to keep dark cloak as is for my tankblade. It’s definitely my favorite health-based tank ability across all classes. Mostly I just don’t think it helps to discredit oneself by making sweeping, untrue claims (e.g., tanks using vigor aren’t welcome in any trials), lest the devs think you don’t know what you’re talking about and ignore the feedback.0 -

All I can say is this.."I have never seen a tank use vigor stand alone to date."
I have been tanking since launch.
I have several Nightblade tanks who prior to Cloak used Invigorating Drain.
Its a channel which can be interrupted which could really get you into trouble.
Cloak was a needed skill.

✭✭@Lab3360 cuz the "Play the way you want" its a pure lie...nightblade must be mele dps...sorc must be range mag dd...DK must be Demigod of nirn without contenders...warden must be the beerholders and Necromancer must be the RP class...
my days as a tank were nice...but im back on my dd panties :V still nothing is set in stone...they might change it 1 hour before release and we will have live something like insta heal instead the over time thing...how would that be for a spinoff ?
