I don't really care whether they get changed or not, though I do have a bit of preference for the old names since there's no good reason to change them and it causes undue confusion until everyone adjusts to them. That, and the familiarity factor, which is hard to deny. If they wanted lore friendly names pertaining to dragons, maybe go with something like: Broken Talons, Fettered Wings, Smoldering Breath. Simple, distinctive, and pronounceable.

But why do they need to be? What was ever wrong with Vivec, Shor, and Sotha Sil?

My guess is that they're hoping that new names + new criteria (locked/unlocked) will result in the population spreading itself out a little more. I'm not overly optimistic that this will happen, but we'll see.
