As someone who has every piece and permutation of this armor (including seven trash-talking demonic shields across my toons), I am VERY happy with the changes to the set. Slightly larger radius, can no longer be blocked (that was a bug), more health and over double the activation chance.

THIS is how you update old sets. Cautiously optimistic to see what is tweaked next.

P.S. Psijic Skill Line Accelerate morph now acts as a Rally (sans) heal SNARE REMOVER and immunity FOR MAGIKA TOONS.

Edit:

Essence Thief – Medium
OLD
5 – When you deal damage with a Light Attack, you have a 15% chance to draw essence from an enemy. Collecting the essence heals you 4300 Health, restores 4300 Stamina, and increases your damage by 12% for 10 seconds.
Essence lasts 10 seconds.
NEW
5 – When you deal damage with a Light Attack, you draw essence from the enemy. Collecting the essence heals you 3900 Health, restores 3900 Stamina, and increases your damage by 10% for 10 seconds.
Essence lasts 5 seconds, and spawns closer to your target.

Nice job, ZoS. Xoxo

    Awesome. They actually buffed it.

I am pleasantly surprised. This may be the first time in history they have actually buffed something I used.

The accelerate changes sound pretty awesome as well. It is kind of ridiculous how magicka-based characters are expected to deal with both stuns and snares separately with our limited stamina pools. So they needed to add something like this and it's been a long time coming - even since they nerfed unstoppable.

I was actually anxious—which is not my normal state—these past few days while waiting/ mulling over potential changes to Leeching. Really tickled that they didn’t ruin it. All of the changes are pretty solid actually. The new combat team seem on point.

Affliction now does slightly less disease damage, BUT, has minor defile baked in.

    Also:

Essence lasts 5 seconds, and spawns closer to your target.

That is also really good, especially for Stamcros. 100% proc chance.

I am surprised by Zos on these set revamping as they are a step in the right direction for older sets

Leeching plate is a great set and just got better

Essence thief sounds better but do I still need to fetch it or is it going to land at the targets feet and not his backside this I need to see and I passed up on gold jewellery too

Affliction I don’t think the damage really needed the reduction it wasn’t much anyways but it really is a underrated set but is now designed for PvP or boss fights that need healing reduction I’m look at you direfrost

Good step though for some older sets

I've always loved Essence Thief for the unique damage buff (stackable) and the 'hop-scotch' mechanic. With the essence rune being placed closer to the target, it sounds as if it will be easier to hop on it and improve up time.

It would be nice if PC players could report on the performance of the change to inform us console... um... peasants :)

Leeching plate will be insanely strong since it doesn´t have an internal cooldown and can proc on multiple enemies at the same time (last time I checked, can be wrong).

A bit dissapointed with essence thief, would´ve loved ZOS to scrap the part where you´ve to pick up the orb/rune. But still better than it´s current form.

Only one enemy at a time, but indeed no CD and a bigger AOE. Each enemy standing in it gives you a heal, though.

I used essence thief quite awhile ago (very) briefly.
I recall the rune shooting off all over the place, including onto walls where it was impossible to pick it up. It was painful to use and constantly required you to run away from what you were attacking to pick it up.
If the essence's "spawn is closer to target" is under you feet it might be worth trying again. If "spawn is closer to target" is just not on walls anymore, it probably isn't worth picking up

Leeching any good in pvp? I like Bahrahas but players just roll out of it so might get 1 tick.

    They're similar in that way.

They're still good in confined spaces (towers, chokes, keep fights) or in situations where there is too much going on and too many players involved for people to really be stepping out of your pools (zerg surfing), but pretty much worthless in a fight in an open field between small numbers of players.
