Feels incredibly punishing.
For a typical stamina build, dodge rolling, breaking free, bash interrupting, all of this feels incredibly punishing. Our stam pool is already very low, around 10,000 assuming no set bonuses, points in stam, or stam food.
When put into a situation where you dodge roll or break free and immediately have to dodge again, even after dodge fatigue wears off, leaves us incredibly low on the resource. I just had a close wipe on the final stage in vma because I dodged a mechanic, then the boss teleported across the room and began channeling necrotic swarm. I had to sprint across the room and bash to interrupt, but upon getting there I didnt have the stamina to interrupt.
This one example could easily be fixed by running crushing shock, but it simply doesnt fit into my current build for vma. Im built for a lot more survival, so typically I have the hp pool to run and bash who I need to. In this instance you cant really survive the necrotic swarm, especially with a Crematorial Guard attacking you as well. Couple that with blocking attacks, youre perpetually low on stamina.
Contrast this with stamina builds who can block, dodge, and sprint almost as much as they like, as well as achieve higher dps ceilings than the typical magicka build, and heal through anything thrown at them via class abilities and vigor, it feels like stamina builds are king of the hill and magicka kinda has a raw deal.
The easiest solution to this is just make block, sprint, bash, and dodge roll cost a flat% across everyone, but I feel like this wouldnt be too popular with the RPers who, lets face it, basically run games nowadays. So could we potentially see a different type of utility for magicka builds? Just have it automatically change based on what our highest stat is? Instead of a dodge roll, a very short distance displacement that instead uses magicka. Not quite like sorcerers streak which is relatively long distance and has two useful morphs, but something that just displaces the player about the same distance as dodgeroll and gives the same IFrames as dodge. Could leave sprint bash and block the same, have those cost stamina.
It just feels incredibly punishing as a magicka player that my first dodge roll costs 48% of my stamina pool. Especially in battlegrounds, it almost feels unfair, getting hit by a fossilize that requires both a break free and a dodge roll, that is also unavoidable. Its one CC that takes my entire stamina pool to deal with. Note I dont think fossilize needs to be nerfed, I just think magicka builds should have an alternative to dodge roll.
Am I missing anything? Are there any logistical problems with this? Something besides "just run more points into stamina", because thats not really a fix, because then it compromises th e actual build itself, especially in pve where damage scales off max magicka now
