What is the necromancer's USP?

What would you say is the necromancers USP? I usually try to make thematic builds around a class'es unique specialty to make it unique (i don't like using the same sets on 2 classes).... for example i use briarheart and automaton on stam sorc since the class is focused on physical damage and crit healing... or i use mothers sorrow + master architect on magblade since its based around crit and cheap ultimate...or i use spell strategist + siriora on templar because there are a lot of synergies to stagionary light attacks with templar....i can't so far identify the necros usp in that sense?

i mean yes its built around corpses - but there arent really any sets for that...at least until they change existing sets with that focus

    What does USP mean?

I also don't like using the same sets on toons, all my toons wear different sets. Though my thoughts are different then yours, my magblade wears mother's sorrow and scathing mage and uses the shadow mundas, as magblades get more crit and more crit hit damage. My stamsorc wears toothrow and advancing yokuda, she is an orc so berserking warrior fits. Don't have a magplar DPS.

My magcer will probably be wearing spinners and spell strategist, necros will get a boost to crit under 25%, so having a bunch built into the sets doesn't make sense to me to me and with spell strategist, it is like you are cursing the enemy, something I have read necromancers are all about. I will not be putting any cp into spell erosion, as they also get 1500 from the class, so I will have 9.7k all together, from the set and light armor passive.

    Unique Selling Point

& as far as I can see nothing, or even less than nothing with all the 'changes' coming even if you dont buy it or want them

USP is that they are a necromancer.

I see. Well if you are just looking at that, the major vulnerability from their ulti is enough of a selling point.

USP will be a fact of being ridiculusly overpowered in any role, at least in the current state, before it gets touched with a nerfbat after summer/autumn sales.

They already stated in ESO live that they want to do a different approach from wardens, who were released weak and then buffed. With necromancers they want to release it overpowered and then maybe tone it down with time.

Different doesnt mean opposite. They just dont want to make the same mistake as they did with MagWarden.

buffed? lol. they were strong on release and were nerfed over time. if by buffed you mean they made winter's revenge usable? not saying i want to have everything the way it was on release, but they certainly were better put together when the Fissure, Racer, Force Pulse combo existed.

now it's just spam master's shock clench to win and that's it. in pve it's not worth anything. class needs a balance shift away from sleet storm's snare and deep fissure. and needs arctic blast to be a usable tool. along with more (frost) dps skills. magden's in a *** place. stamdens were buffed when we didn't even ask for it and the tank and supports were always going good. the damn class is just so wonky right now on the magicka side.

    that's my rant over.

I fear I might be the only person who is getting less interested in the necromancer the more I learn about it, I mean the Dragon is already been swapped out for yet another atronach, and we can’t even raise a skeleton with a sword, just a bowman or a bomb with feet!

I loved the idea of the dragon emerging to blast ethereal flame now it’s replacement is just... well, a bit meh...

Maybe the pts will change my mind but with a full bore meta addict on the dev team I don’t hold out much hope... you just know it will be button mashing light attack weaves as far as the eye can see. Well stuff that, I like heavy attacks and I’m going to use them whether the devs like it or not!

Yeah i think a skeletal dragon would be cooler. But a big thicc boi works too. i do quite like the bomb with feet though. and his cousin, mr sparky. mr spook looks cool too with how much he can heal.

I like that bomb with feet
I actally proposed that on a "we want necromence" type of tread about a year ago
Maybe they did read the tread or its just a coincidence

true...dragon would be way cooler...wonder why they couldn't make it work - doesn't seem that complicated?

people keep saying this completely ignoring that most of the good skills need corpse interaction to be that good.
Playing your character the way your character should play is all that matters. Play as well as you can but never betray the character. Doing so would make playing an mmoRPG pointless.
