You've seen the ground littered with dead NPCs in places like Rawl'Kha and Vulkhel Guard.
Imagine the SJWs petitioning to shut the game down when some 'players' with the ability to be anonymous psychopaths ran rampant and slaughtered crowds of kids in the open world?
Many of us assume that the 'Rated 'M' for Mature' would mean nothing when 'Mom' discovers that Little Susie or Little Johnny was witnessing and/or participating in the rampant annihilation of 'child-NPCs'.
ZOS is making sure that none of you players has to see that.

That seems likely. I absolutely adore children and have a good many of my own, but I wanted to dropkick the mouthy little brats in Skyrim all the way to Oblivion (not the ones I adopted though, they were super sweet). Real talk: if we had those kinds of kids in ESO, I would steer clear of whatever part of the game they populated, just as I avoid tantrum-throwing little folks in Walmart.

Adoption comes with more storage space.
Decide how you will take care of the child.
Is one of you going to be a stay at home parent while the other goes out to earn gold to provide food and shelter?
The child will be in the non-combat pets section and they can travel with you on your adventures. From Saving Tamriel time and time again, to stealing and murdering for your own benefit...and your Child's as well.
But if you and your partner decide to get a divorce then you're going to have to share custody of the child which means both of you only get half the bonus storage space from before.
Meanwhile your kid is really stressed out after the split-up, having travelled through Coldharbour, surviving dragon attacks, and seeing their parents straight-up stab random people in the streets for money.
Then the guards come after you to take away custody.
