Stam dk vs stamplar

I have my stam dk at 33k dps running VO, hundings rage, and selenes for pve and for pvp I’m pretty good running spriggans bloodspawn and veiled Heritence I hit decently hard survive we’ll get kills whatever.

I am leveling a stamplar I like playing as a knight-like character so stam is my thing.

I’m wondering for both pve and pvp the difference in a stamplar gameplay vs a stam dk if you’ve played both which do you have more fun with and whatever else comparing the two.

I've played both in PvP and PvE settings.

StamDK is amazing with high burst damage especially with utilizing poisons.

Stamplar is amazing because they are hard to kill, have amazing sustain, AND can clear negative effects quickly with Extended Ritual.

Both are a lot of fun for me. It all depends on what you want and how you want to play.

Do you want to deal a lot of damage in a short period of time? StamDK
Do you want survivability while putting pressure on the enemy? Stamplar

Stamplar seems to give off higher DPS much easier but you have like 2 or 3 different rotation phases depending on boss/health, and you have like 10+ DoTs to upkeep. Stamplar PVE builds right now use Relequen with Ravanger (does more dps than berserking warrior despite what Alcast or other meta build sites will say, they base their tests on dummys without considering the buffs generally given by groups) and Velidreth or Selen (mostly veli, but selen is used for specific bosses where you can't hit them with all 3 balls).

I can casually pull 30-40k without group buffs, messing up the rotations and everything still gets you and easy 30k. If you just spammed biting jabs alone with no debuffs or DoTs you'd have 20k dps. In serious mode, with good group, I've pulled upward 45-50k+. You also have repent which gives you resources off dead bodies, however stamplars have always had stamina management issues so you need to get your rotation down to pull those 45-50k numbers. With improper rotation and minimal stam management youll still be hitting 30k casually though.

Stamina Templar all the way. And no need for trial gear. Put Briarheart + Veiled Heritance with Selene, Validreth, Stormfist, and laugh doing lazy parses at 35K+. And you will hit 40K+ if you go Mec Acuity instead of VH, replacing Balista with the spammable Sweep. (Aedric Spear).

I play both. Both have only like 3-4 major stam damage skills on their trees, and I find both to be equally effective. The DK leap is really cool, but the breath and claw are lame animation-wise, I've seen people make threads demanding a remake of the DK animations before. Templar animations are really nice, but the biting jabs is a little less dps.

Fun is subjective and I define it by how cool I look doing something, and how effective it is in achieving a goal, and to be fair Templar is my pick on this one.

You're right, it is subjective. Personally I prefer the DK animations - they have a certain strength about them. Slamming your foot down into the earth as rocks start to orbit your body, yelling into the air as dragon spikes protrude from your back... I mean it's just so damn cool.
I do miss the days where everything looked like fire though.
