CWC Outlaws Den

Am I right in saying this is the only den in game that has the door opening animation instead of it being an instant transition? Why? The amount of times I've been screwed over my this and lost thousands worth of stolen goods is ridiculous. If CWC plans and furnishings weren't so valuable I'd have given up ages ago.

Yeah this bothers me as well. It's the only Refuge you can't use to escape a pursuing guard. I have been sucker punched a couple times trying to do so, and not understanding why I couldnt open the door. Ah well. Just have to keep in mind and not aggro guards on the way.

Should be fixed for consistency though.

C'mon, be a decent thief: research the landscape and escape routes before the heist. There is a neat way above the ground which leads almost directly to the Outlaws refuge entrance. It starts from the CWC stablemaster. I used it a lot and guards seem to lose aggro all the time while I am there

It doesn't look like it, but this passage is quite high above, and the first ledge (the second arrow on the first screen) seems inaccessible to guards (NPC and small wall blocks the path). That is a good place to crouch, get into stealth and lose aggro

Interesting as it is, it's not really the point. Every other Den in the game has trained us to expect certain mechanics, then we get screwed when this one doesn't behave the same way. That path is useful for a repeat offender, but first time crooks are going to get a really nasty surprise with absolutely no forewarning.

Interesting as it is, you're ignoring the point.

A good thief never gets caught.

Instance or no instance you should not have guard aggro close to the entrance.

    Pretty simple.

The times I was caught was exactly because I was waiting to be caught. Gotta get those 'escape the guard 100 times' achievements done after all. What better way than to mudball the guard that's just coming towards the Refuge, get a bounty, be seen, refuse to pay, and instantly duck into safety. There's a guard near almost all if not all the Refuges city entrances, and I often allow myself to stand there for a while until they catch me exactly for this reason.

Lost a couple of green items tops. Never anything important. But I've learned not to do that in the CWC now

Well, yes. But I don't see why it needs changing, I find such pattern deviations quite refreshing in their own small way. Otherwise it becomes routine. I was never caught by guards in CWC, because I usually never get their aggro in the first place, and if I do, I know places to lose aggro beforehand. The point is: 1) to be prepared 2) do not follow patterns automatically. Because there is always one or more exceptions.

Patterns are good, but you needn't set your brain on the path so it gets confused, when the situation doesn't follow familiar pattern for you.

If that were the case I wouldn't have a problem with it. But the fact that it's the ONLY one and there's no warning beforehand is what makes me think this is obviously a bug rather than an intended feature. Now that I've done my 30 crow quests I barely go to CWC any more, I do my thieving runs in Vivec. But I've been burned enough times to feel the need to call it out, and the only solution shouldn't be to get good. If they wanted to normalize strategy they could have done so with the TG DLC.
