Crown question

For the past few months in game (I'm on Xbox) and on the Facebook page, I've seen lots of talk about people selling Crowns for in game gold.
Not really into the idea, but I play with s group of people who don't have the finances for lots of real money spending.
.
So this has me wondering, it it actually possible to transfer Crowns to another player?
Not Crown Store items, but the Crowns themselves.
I've found no answers searching online.

There is a built-in gift system in the Cash Shop now; hover your cursor over the item and at the bottom right there is a giftbox. That's what you use to gift it to another player. At least that's true of the PC game. The buyer picks the item he/she wants, pays the seller at the agreed rate, and gets the item sent to him or her. That's the process insofar as I am aware of it.

Now, I personally don't know if it's LEGAL to do this, because I only gift, not sell, so I can't speak to that part of it. But all you have to do to find out what I am saying above is stand in a high-traffic selling area such as Stormhaven, Craglorn or the starter zones for a couple hours and you'll know as much about it as I do. This question gets asked and answered.

When you're in doubt, best to ask Customer Service about it. That goes for not only this situation but for any situation you're not sure of. You can't get in trouble for finding out if something is okay or not, you can only get in trouble for doing something that's not ok. Going by zone chat (regardless of the detail you find out) is not sure to find you out the legality, but the Game Masters will know.

ZOS have confirmed they're ok with people selling crowns for gold, but they won't do anything if you get scammed so it's up to the two people involved to make sure they trust each other.

And yeah, you can't buy crowns directly, you have to buy an item which is gifted to you.

    Thanks for the clarification.

Yes I knew about item gifting. I just cant figure how that would work in regards to people offering Crowns themselves.
    .
This is why I asked here, I thought this was the official ESO forums.

No, you can’t transfer crowns themselves. •Person A would say ‘wtb 5k crowns’
•Person B ‘ok that’ll be 500k gold, what would you like?’
•Person A ‘pack of crates please’
B would make the purchase and gift to A and A would mail or trade the gold to B.
