Extremely disappointed of Breton Hero Armor

Alduin_Fordragon
Hello,
When i saw the april crown store showcase, i was very happy that i have the chance to buy the armor from the first cinematic trailer.
Now i have my regrets....The armour make you look fat from the behind, the robe is glued from your feet and from the front it make you look like you are bald.
It only look ok when you stand still.
How you guys feel about it?

While it does suck it seems they can't do cape physics in the game without huge issues as i am told by people here. So they had to glue that one to your ass as apart of the costume.

It's a shame would looooooove to see capes in the game.

I think the costume will be much better if they remove the cape.

This is like, what, year 3 of people complaining about how god awful the Breton Hero Costume looks? IDK, at this point, "Buyer Beware" should just be automatically implied with everything in the crown store.

Welcome to ESO then. Expect disappointment like this on an all too frequent basis and maybe you won't turn out to be as jaded as I am after 5 years of ESO.

While I agree that the Breton Hero is not one of the best costumes - don't despair! There are good-looking costumes and armours in the game. It might be a bit overwhelming, but this site has some great information and preview of what styles are actually available and how they'll look in-game, so you don't have to craft them yourself to know what they'll look like:

    ESO Fashion

If you are new to the game OP, then welcome and I hope you'll have a great time in Tamriel! :) To avoid such disappointments in the future, you can always go to the Crown Store while playing ESO; then you'll have the option to preview the costume directly on your character, to see if you like the look or not.

That helped me avoid plenty of bad-looking costumes! ;)

Exactly. I always wondered why ESO has no physics like in GW2, where some parts of hair, tails, cloaks and some armor parts move like they have inertial properties.
An old engine I believe. But GW2 has an old one too. Who wants to spend money for quality nowadays?

One vaguely related thing to remember when buying a costume: turn on inverse foot kinematics, put your character on an uneven terrain (stairs works well) before previewing the costume, then rotate a character around while in the preview mode. That way you can actually see what happens with the costume when your legs are moving. Sometimes it's not a pretty sight - there is clipping, weird deformations, texture stretches and such.

Even if it looked good, this costume and the other two hero costumes are so common now that it is not even worth wearing.
The only time the Hero costumes were rare was between 2016 to late 2017, after that many players started to get them.
    Now everyone have them.
I wish ZOS wouldn't have recycled everything.
They shouldn't have made available the "Limited time only" crown store items.
After what I have seen so far, nothing is truly Limited time only in the crown store, this term is just deceiving and it triggers "No choice, I must buy it now or it is gone" kind of purchases.

So? I use costumes because I like them, not because nobody else has them. And with abundance of motifs, dyes and costumes in this game running into someone looking exactly like you is very rare. Sorry, but, I'm always annoyed by this elitist mindset. And availability doesn't mean that everybody will be running around with the same costume. Just look at Indriks, they're hot item right now and yet you don't see that much of them, at least not on EU server.

Several of their costumes are like that- the Toxin Doctor, Wedding Suit and Noble Suit are two that come to mind.
I was looking forward to them but all three hero costumes look silly. The Breton has the weird cloak, and the Nord- the one I really wanted- has odd proportions.

The breton costume does make toons look fat, from the front as well as the back. The back is forgivable as it's supposed to be a cape, but from the front it looks like the stomach and legs were stuffed with pillows. This was such a lost opportunity for something cool.

Actually the Indrik and the Dawnwood Indrik are quite common on PC EU server, even more than a regular apex mount of a crown crate season.
That's why I prefer to use a radiant apex mount.
There is nothing elitist about trying to have some cosmetic non combat features others don't have.
Also, ZOS are confusing the customers when they mention "Limited time only" while it is not actually limited/exclusive.

The Elf Hero Costume looks good but it makes your character look fat. It looks decent on my skinny characters but horrible on everyone else.

I'd say this attitude makes more sense if it's something you can earn in game as an achievement. Here it's just buying stuff in the right timeframe. There's really no need for it to be limited and no need to want it to be rare. Just enjoy your costume and let others enjoy it too. And it still is limited even if it returns someday again. You can't get it all the time, if you don't buy it now you'll have to wait, which is as good incentive as that you won't get it ever again. It gives newer players a chance to get something they like (and saves ZOS resources since they don't have to make something new).

Probably depends on character. On my magblade it looks great, and this is unique and only outfit in the game with the cape, so you look like real mage.
Cape is somewhat glued, like a long skirt, i.e. nothing different to any outfit with skirt, but here it is cape.
Main downside is you now stick with horse-like mounts, on cats and guars it looks really awkward.

Strong disagree I love the Shrike outfit, lol. I put it on a couple of my characters, I love how it looks on males.
Hard agree on the Breton outfit though. I almost bought it until I REALLY looked at it. It just sits so weirdly on characters. Makes them look gross. I can get over the cape stuff, but the belt portion on the front just sits so weird on the stomach and hips, looks awkward.
