Today I have queued for random normal as a healer. But when I entered Fungal Grotto I... I don't know how to say it. There were two DDs from another alliance!
And they wanted me to heal them!
They kept dying.
I took the oath the hypocrates so I had to heal them.
I had to do it!
And they laughed when I did it.
Because they knew I am bound to heal them even though we were enemies.

Now I feel so dirty, so used. Have I betrayed my country?
I have, have I?

Please do something about it! Put faction locks in Dungeon Finder.

Except that's not true, in many dungeons you fight against DC/EP/AD NPCs. Being a DC and fighting my own fellow DC NPCs destroys my immersion.

This is exactly how you should feel (even outside of Cyrodiil). You should want to place the heads of your enemies on pikes for all to see.. and wait with baited breath and boiling blood that is filled with rage and hatred.. until you can once again enter Cyrodiil and slaughter them all.. take their keeps... all that they own and hold dear.. possess their scrolls.. and serve them utter humiliation when your faction wins the campaign.

So.. you know.. what you have experienced seems like a normal day in ESO to me..

Think of it this way.. you heal them now.. so they are healthy and likely to live longer... and suffer all the more when you kill them later.. on the blood soaked soil of Cyrodiil. Sounds like a win/win to me. >:)

It's different people posting these threads which shows a common theme, they're not happy with faction locks. The poll created also showed the majority don't want it.

The issue raised in this thread is also entirely legitimate, it destroys the story behind the game having different factions in the same dungeon.

Perhaps different people.. or the same people on different accounts. I personally have 7 accounts (don't judge me, the base game was 10$, I couldn't resist).. and I needed the storage!!

They are doing all this screaming and yelling and they haven't even seen how it's going to pan out. And yes, I know there were faction locks before.. but the faction lock is only for 30 days at a time. If they want to switch sides, they can.. at the end of the current campaign.

The Devs said this was an experiment.. not something laid in stone.

Bruh. Where have you been? Questing in Glenumbra? This is the second time they will be trying out faction lock except this time there are like 1/3rd of the campaigns and about 1/4 of the active PVP population.

No, firstly, these aren't the same person, I know many of them. Put the tin foil away.

Secondly, why should I suck it up? Why should I be told how to play? This is a forum to express my views, and I will continue to. It doesn't affect me, I play DC only, but it affects my friends.

And, it's still just for 30 days at a time.. Not you pick a faction and that's it forever.

Personally, I don't think it's all that hard to pick a side.. and fight to help your faction win. For the people who don't want to do that, home on Shor or Kyne (if you have under level 50 characters).

    1) It goes against the One Tamriel "Play as you want" tagline.
    2) There isn't enough population, especially around Oceanic, for Shor to be busy enough for PVP. There's multiple, multiple posts on this subject from experienced players about this.

It has nothing to do with picking a side.

It had everything to do with people not PVPing. A lot of players legit stopped playing when we tried faction lock attempt #1 - Trueflame couldn't recover from that nonsense. Now they are taking some sort of gambit in that Vivec is too big to fail?

Sorry, you're right about the suck it up comment.. it was out of line. I actually edited it out of the original post, but not before you quoted it. I didn't actually mean you specifically, (though it seemed that way).

I'm just saying that there are likely (just a guess), just as many people who do want a faction lock as those who don't. A poll on the forums is informative, but by no means represents all the player base (either way for or against it). I'm constantly amazed at just how many people do not read the forums.

I have little doubt that people who routinely flip the map on one faction and then login to a different faction and flip it again are not happy.. and.. I'm not saying those are the people who are posting.. just saying map flippers can't be too "happy" right now.

There's really not as many people who flip the map in directions as is made out, especially on the main campaign Vivec. They simply don't have that sort of influence. Those people who genuinely try to save PVP from one faction dominating, to keep it healthy, who play on the weaker faction, they do it to help, not to earn AP. AP is so worthless, I don't understand why people think that's a primary reason to PVP anymore. They could lock Shor if they really wanted an RP campaign, see how it turned out.

That might be true, but we don't have the numbers to say either way.. but the Devs must have numbers where they possibly see X person on X faction in let's say, Vivec and then next thing they look, and X is on X faction in Vived flipping back what they just took on the other faction.. and if that is true, it's possibly happening enough that the Devs feel it's time to step in and prevent that.

And if there are as many altruistic people changing from faction to faction to help the underdog.. I sure wish I knew who they were so I could whisper them and ask them to come over to DC's side when DC is gated and there looks to be almost no DC on Vivec. Where are they then? Is there like a bat signal or something we can use to say S.O.S?

It's just my personal opinion, but what I see when I play in Vivec (not all the time, but often), is that it seems like people have switched to the winning side because they want to be on the winning side (which also more typically has the most people playing at that time).

I think you play a similar time to me on Vivec, and it's usually that we're gated or close to it because AD are so strong with 3 organised guilds on and we (DC) have none until Rats come on a couple of hours later. Definitely no switching to the strong side, they're all AD mains.

I might have to start a guild up to counter it, but I'm so burned out by guild play, the drama and stress is literally detrimental to IRL health lol.

I play at all different times really and play off and on as the PvP fever hits me.. but do you also happen to notice that it seems that often when either AD or EP are just owning the map.. that you will see very little to no action from EP if AD is dominating, and AD if EP is dominating? That doesn't happen all the time.. but it does seem to happen more times than a few when I'm looking at the map and seeing where there is faction action.

I will admit that I do see AD and EP fighting each other (so yes, that does happen).. but I just think of it as a family argument.. and they will no doubt smooth things over later..

And.. I have also seen DC and EP and DC and AD who appear to be working in what seems like a coordinated effort, so it likely happens on all sides. The faction lock will at least help to nullify that to some extent.. but will not completely stop it from happening.. but to me, any help is better than no help at this point.

I highly doubt who flips what on which character is being tracked by develoeprs ;)
They barely have resources for patches so they most likely don't have time to make such tools.
What they do have is a database that stores information about your equipment and currency, but not the source of it.

I don't know about VIvec campaign, but in Sotha Sil we have a situation as follows:
    1. EP has several highly organised guilds that have good leaders and make the whole EP the strongest.
    2. AD usually has no teams and no one even wants to assume leadership role. There is one french guild that is quite powerfull but they don't let non French people in.
    3. DC eats glue - except that one ball group that annihilates everything on their path and trolls like crazy.

Since one alliance has better leadership and higher numbers it is obvious that the other two alliances either cooperate or don't fight each other to somehow counter the top dog. It is normal, it is natural. It is the smart thing to do. You can not expect people to allways do the most stupid thing. It's not some faction hopping or love. It's just war and strategy.

And it happens even in 1v1v1. Some time ago I had two enemies trying to prevent me from flipping a resource. They were from two different alliances. Soon they have noticed that I am the greatest threat so they ganged up on me. But the moment I faked a retreat they continued to fight each other. It's not friendhip, love or cheating. Thats pure strategy or common sense. You can't blame people for having it even though we live in a world in which common sense is so rare that it is considered a super power.
