Pvp dmg set mag sorc

What is a good dmg set for PvP for a mag sorc? I haven’t been able to find one. Any suggestions appreciated. Also the only dlc i have are ordinium and imperial city

Trust me I don’t listen to the others. I just don’t use pets because I prefer to rely on my self and skill to survive. I don’t have anything against pets, I just prefer not to use them.

Well, its your life but pvp without pet isnt easy. Unless you wanna get rekt by stamblade with bleed/poison builds.
That heal from pet boosts your survivability as much as shield stacking.
And you don't have to rely on that pet. Just activate it and be sure it isnt dead. Its easy to say when your pet died. Then just re-cast it

About sets, try spell strategist and bright throat

Trust me use the pets.
Well I use it for bg, Im like a tank, with moderate damage, I keep them busy while the other better player deal with them. I can heal myself and the others and survive long enough to be of any help, I think.

Trust your gut. Don’t listen to bad pet sorcs who insist you need to surround yourself with a zoo to be effective. Pet sorcs are generally only successful when several of them pack tightly together to limit targeting. Individually, they are weak, because they lack the bar space to do anything more than throw out curses, wrath spam, and heavy attacks.

Spinner’s, Innate Axiom, and Skoria will serve you well in BGs. 5L/1M/1H, all impen. Destro/resto. Don’t worry about using offensive ults, because you’ll be clapping people left and right with crit hits on your class skills. Life Giver is OP and fairly cheap, and it will do a far better job of saving you during “oh ****” moments than any pet.

Spell Strategist? Seriously? If OP is running a 1v1/duelling build, sure... For anything else, though (i.e. the vast majority of PVP in this game), SS is a waste. Fighting people 1v1 is rare, unless that’s the kind of PVP one is actively seeking out and engaging in.

I golded out a full set of Spell Strategist, and it only parsed 2% higher than Spinner's on a dummy. Against real players, though, you're never going to get 100% uptime on SS. Spinner's is way better for PvP, in my opinion.

Best two DLCS to have IMHO!

as Emma said Spinners is good and easy to get. Bright throat is cool, max magika is still my fave approach.

Don't discount pets tho they gd at the mo

Bright Throat is a good set if you can't afford citrus filet.
Shackle is good on a non Dunmer in no CP.

You can also try to use master staff (cc but very week to dk and easily avoidable) or asylum (pulse with rune as cc).

Kinda depends whether you play with pets or not. Pet dmg doesn't scale from sp. dmg you see, only from max magicka. So Necropotence is technically a dmg set if you're petsorcin' and to some extent so is Bright Throat.

Outside of pets I'd say: Spinner, Spell Strategist, Balorgh, Caluurion are all good sets for dmg. Caluurion is kind of a pain to farm weapons for and I'm not entirely sold on it.

The first 3 sets mentioned above can be combined in a high damage build. Infused Spell Strat Resto on your backbar with Sp.Dmg enchant, Nirn Master's firestaff on your front bar with Shock Enchant, Spinner on the body, Balorgh monster set. Build up 500 ult and load up a combo with LA+curse->meteor->clench->execute. You'd be punching at close to 5k sp dmg with tons of penetration and max magicka to boot.

The question is, can you sustain? But you can always swap one of the two dmg sets for a sustain set and sustain longer that way.

Yeah spell strat is bad. The thing I hate the most is that people tend to play defensively when they see the giant purple orb over their head which is the worst thing for a magsorc trying to do the delayed burst combo.

They can play defensive for a few secs but so long you keep a high uptime on your target it’s ok. They can’t play defensive for ever, there will be a window of opportunity.

Unless you’re fighting a troll tank that runs round a rock using exclusively shield ulties. In which case, why bother just change target.

Nah. Not true. Running the Matriarch is simply the best way to go right now. I fully understand not wanting to do it, but it simply is the BiS. Besides back bar it replaces healing ward which is trash now so youre not really giving up a whole and youre gaining a whole lot. Im not talking about a heavy attack running all the pets builds, im talking the meta matriarch build.

Most of sorc skills are 1v1 Direct Damage only
I dont see problem with spell strategist. Even when you face more players, you can still tab target one and bring him down, then focus on others

Ive killed so many matriarch pet sorcs with my non pet build that ive lost track. Just because something is popular, doesnt really make it meta.

I am a big fan of spinners/bright throat/1chudan/domihaus. You are covered for damage, sustain, resist, and stats. With all tri stat glyphs, I sit at 42k mag, 26k health, 15k stam, and 1900 regen unbuffed with witchmothers. If solo, I back bar a resto staff, if I have support, I back bar a master destro. Soften with force pulse until your frag procs, then La curse, La mages wrath, swap, La destructive reach, swap, La frags. If the the knock back lands, curse, frags, and the initial hit of reach all basically land at once while your opponent is airborne, and both of your enchants should fire in that time frame as well. It won’t kill a good player that is ready for it, but it will absolutely obliterate most pugs.

Pet builds, especially the matriarch, are powerful, but they just aren’t my thing. Good positioning and a shield with high health and resistances is enough. Now obviously; this is not going to excel 1v1 or if out numbered, but I don’t play sorc for those things. For open field fights, you can just sit back, pick juicy targets and watch them explode.

I don’t run Healing Ward... I tried matriarch for a little while; had more success without it. Slotting matriarch means I lose Inner Light on my front bar, which is a no-go for me.
