Potions need to be more affordable

Currently, poor players and casual players cannot afford to splash out on mats for a constant supply of desired potions. I for one end up just using 'povo pots' most of the time. This is too much of a disadvantage.

The solution: Give us daily potion mats, and herb bags as rewards for BGs, dungeons etc.

Yes, it'd impact the economy... but so what?! Potions are a key part of the game. Make them more available. Let us enjoy them and play with them, rather than feel crappy about having to splash out on pricey herbs.

Side note: Lower the cost of vendor potions (specifically AP potions).

Edit: Largely negative response to this, with PvPers being the only people who seem to agree. PvEers seem to hate this idea. Maybe just lower the price of AP potions, as sustaining Sorcery on certain classes is the only real problem. Crafting your own is currently cheaper than buying these.

With IC becoming it's own instance. Farm there or in cold harbor if not populated. Never use good pots in dungeon or pug trials. Modify bar or run with a dk friend for damage buff.

Oh, I do... but I power through them in BGs (which provide very little in the way of income).

There are times when choices need to be made: play whatever I wish or farm for the mats I need? lol

If you don't farm a few times and you need stuff, prepare your wallet then.

There are various solutions to your problem:

    1) Spend more time farming mats
    2) Farm other high profit stuff and sell it
    3) Dont main line pots. They were not intended to be used that way. They are suppose to be situational not a constant buff.

That said i would like to see potions that do not have to be so micromanaged. Like 3 minutes of time but requires double the mats. I always felt the micro managing of buffs in this game was ridiculous. Just adds complexity without actually adding any playing value at all.

You cant expect anything to be for free just attached as a reward for attend a daily. Compared to console prices the pc prices are a joke in the first place, never had any issues self sustaining my potion addiction on pc.

Actually with IC changes farming tel vars will become less efficient because we're loosing half of the IC instances and increase of the traffic because of the easier acces to IC. If nothing gets changed we can assume that soon after elsweyr hits live prices of flowers will go up and accesibility will go down.

I think there are enough ways to get the plants. Each week I need at least 400-500 spellpots.
    Having trials 5 days a week and 1 day I don't play.
That one other day gives me the opportunity to get enough income/farm to have the pots I need for the next week.

Yeah, prices of the pots are kinda high atm.. that's true... but still.
Some clever marketplay can give you enough gold in no time.

Are you playing on console or PC? Everything on console costs more (less players, or less players that sell stuff maybe?). In some cases 3 times the price or more. Yellow glyphs that are 8k-9k on console are 3k-4K on PC. Stacks of mats are twice as expensive on console. And set pieces of armor/weapons even more so... unfortunately another reason you should probably play on PC (I play both but still mostly Xbox)...

If anything pots are to cheap. As said above they were never meant to be a mainline buff.

I would like to see them become rarer.

No. ZOS should not give free pots out, no. That will screw up the game economy. I'm a casual player and I sell mats for the pots you use and I manage to gather no problem so why can't you? You just don't want to, let's face it. So, then you pay me and others like me to do it for you.

I'll counter with the alternative that players that can't afford pots might need to find more ways of earning in game gold.

Potions are free as we can gather all the matts we want for free.

Further, we do get matts daily. If you have the Shadowy Supplier in the DB line unlocked you can get some free matts and sometimes free potions from that person very 20 hours.

Then we have daily writs that are a net plus on alchemy matts. Do it on multiple toons. I have the banker and place the potions (crafted in bulk) in the banker. So I just grab the writ, interact with my banker, turn in writ.

BTW, gold per writ is pretty sweet. It is same as any quest and there are 7 writs you can do on every toon. iirc, it is 4,500 per character per day, plus gold matts you can sell for more. That is 31k per character per week and again you can sell the gold matts for more.

There’s nothing wrong with the current cost or availability of potions and mats. The market has been level for a long time based on supply/demand. Pllayers without the time or desire to farm mats or do writs can buy pots with crowns, gems, or AP. That seems pretty balanced to me.

But I do agree with OP that BG are a huge potion-sink. That’s the downside of non-CP pvp, lots of pots to accommodate the hit to resource management and healing.

Hey man, there's nothing wrong with "povo pots". Been using them for years because I'm too cheap to buy those regal ones people use.
Hell, the other day I spent over 140k AP on alliance potions. I am not ashamed.

Have you considered doing Alchemy writs daily, possibly on multiple characters? Between the mats you get back and the surveys, that's a lot of plants.

100k telvar, which is easily obtained in less than 1 hour, nets you roughly 200 of each plant - That's enough for 800 of your favourite potion and stacks of others.

And I still use the trash pots that NPCs drop unless I am at an important boss fight or PVPing. It saves me valuable pots that I eat like candy and as a Mageblade, pots give me ultimate so it's a must.
