Sneak vs Nightblade Cloak

Its come to my attention today via EP nightblade who claimed sneak was a superior mechanic which was free compared to nightblade cloak.
The concept that sneak was somehow superior to cloak seemed a bit outlandish to me so I feel morally obligated to do this

I was going to make this a poll but im not sure how to do it tbh so ill just ask whats your opinion.

This question is posed to the vets that have been playing since launch since because this EP claimed to be as such I would like to hear your opinions and reasoning

Now this is *Not* an attempt to make nightblade cloak out to be OP so please don't misunderstand I just would like the honest opinions of which ability is better according to the Veteran launch players or in general anyone that wants to chime in

Sneak on light/heavy armored characters is terrible.
So magblade cloak > magblade sneak.
But I prefer sneak with medium armor.

@Kulvar preferences are always encouraged but I have to ask which would you prefer works better for ganking accounting for the attempt and the get away possibility if failed *Without using* invis pots to help sneak

Cloak is also usable as a dps button if morphed to 'crit/empower' the next attack. In some situations this can be meaningful.

It really depends on the situation.

Sneak is very useful and while is has some limitations, as anything does, they are manageable in the right conditions.

If not near other players one can stay in sneak indefinitely. Other than being exposed, which is more likely if not wearing medium armor and have some additional passive, movement is limited to movement costs, speed and total stamina. It is more advantageous, by far, to use sneak in a stamina build.

For a Stam NB I can see them considering sneak superior as they have benefits a magicaka build does not have. For magicka the NB would find cloak more useful.

You’re not asking the right question.
    The question should be:
“Is invisibility, via invisibility potions, superior to cloak?”
    In my opinion, it is.

@kaithuzar while invis pots might be superior to cloak im not referring to pots specifically just the actual sneak mechanic its self though I can see the use of invis pots but im not personally into running them id rather just raw sneak mode

While I am hesitant to pose this question im curious of how itl go so ill just ask anyway.

In the scenario of a gank warden vs a nightblade who uses cloak say the warden wins and catches the nightblade off guard but the argument comes up there is no counter play to ganking even though said warden used sub assault as part of the combo.

Does the nightblade have legit claim to complain about ganking when they can do the same thing them selves and use cloak to get away if they fail? where as the warden who doesn't use invis pots doesn't and can only reenter sneak if the target dies and doesn't get put into combat by anyone else.

I ask these questions because yes as yal can probably guess I ganked a nightblade he cried said ganking wasn't fair yet he does the same deal to others and benefits from the use of cloak when he does it whether he succeeds or fails.

I think you met an RP pvper. He was RPing being a crybaby.

Always thought if sneak and cloak as 2 different things. 1 is used to vanish quickly in and out of combat. The other to move about undetected. Some times I use either alone for what I am doing; other times I use 1 into the other. I can use cloak for both to an extent in a hurry but sneak is still better at long distances. It's all about managing resources to match the use.

This is a good answer, though for a magblade you usually spam cloak because stamina is a lot harder to recover.
