Is that the right mix for a tank? I don't know.

I doubt that Immortal Pug is a real thing.

If you got a bit of gold to spend, 5 piece warriors poet + ebon is a solid combo. Using it on my nightblade tank. Farming Ebon on normal is quite easy.

Alcast’s DK tank build recommends Torug’s Pact and Fortified Brass with 2 pieces of Night’s Silence. All 3 are crafted, and Plague Doctor is a decent set as well if you want to farm it. Be aware Nightblade tanking is not in avery good spot right now.

Torug’s Pact - craftable in the second zone of any alliance (Grahtwood, Deshaan, and Stormhaven)
    2) 129 Spell Damage
    3) 1206 Max Health
    4) 2975 Spell Resist
    5) Decrease weapon enchantment cooldown and increase potency by 30%

Fortified Brass - craftable in Clockwork City
    2) 1206 Max Health
    3) 2975 Physical Resist
    4) 2975 Spell Resist
    5) 5170 Physical and Spell Resist

Night’s Silence - craftable in first zone of any alliance (Auridon, Glenumbra, and Stonefalls)
    2) 1096 Max Stam
    3) -
    4) -
    5) -

Plague Doctor - drops in Deshaan
    2) 1206 Max Health
    3) 1206 Max Health
    4) 4% Healing Taken
    5) 4000 Max Health

I like Whitestrake's Retribution for learning to tank. The damage shield when you hit 30% health is good for saving you from mistakes, teaching you when you made a mistake, and when the set stops proccing then you know you can tank well enough to move onto a better set.

But Plague Doctor is a fine set for basic tanking, its a dropped set from Deshaan. Hist Bark is another decent crafted set.

I always reccomend crafting fortified brass and whitesteakes retribution. Use all sturdy on armor And then use defending on weapons. Use double sword and shield until you feel more comfortable then upgrade your armor and switch to ice staff back bar. You should be able to tank any non dlc vet trial like that :)

As mentioned, Whitestrake is amazing, especially today with how damage shields work. I'm half-tempted to put that on my tank again since he's a templar and templar tanks have pretty garbage self-heals.

I recommend you to use Engine Guardian with Mark of the Pariah/Fortified Brass with Undaunted Bastion/Whitestrake's Retribution.

Here is a link to the skillbar setup. Replace Bolstering Darkness and Shield Discipline with Aggressive Warhorn and Replenishing Barrier from Assault and Support skill lines when they unlock.

Then work towards more team oriented sets.

I know you guys are trying to help this poor schmo, but please don’t go pushing sets like Torugs and Whitestrake on him. Torug’s is of extremely limited use and really only for tanks in top guilds going for scores. Whitestrake is just plain lousy. Never, ever use sets that only proc when your health is low. A tank, and any character for that matter wants to be at the other end of the spectrum, topped off as much as possible. If you’re going to proc damage shields you want them to take you over and above your max health.
