College of Winterhold DLC

When will we see the rise of the college of Winterhold as an expansion pack for the mages guild? The college could give players the ability to learn resto and destruction spells as an ability instead of having to use their staves as a perk, cause let's face it, anyone can use these powers already so what is the big deal of making it to where you are not limited to a stave for the powers? Or other abilities that we have not seen yet. For example being able to summon different atronochs, a levitation ability as a stun or hold, or a telekinetic ability, ect.

I would like a "guilds" dlc or expansion at some point that would also include Dawnstar where the guilds act was signed. With a rework on the mages and fighters guild skill lines and levelling.

The cool thing is that we would see a full Winterhold not the shell we saw in Skyrim.

edit: I know he collage of winterhold isn't part of the mages guild but I can see Varnus trying to convince them to join could also see the return of Shalidor (and maybe Valaste).

I agree, a lot of them need reworked, and I too would love to see Dawnstar, so long as it also had a vampire element as well. Such as being able to finally gain the vampire lord form, even if it is just a polymorph, but when you look at it, there is so many vampire powers that the NPC's use, that the player has no access too, which makes no sense to me.

The crown crates have been hinting towards winterhold being a dlc lately.

I think it’s inevitable we’ll have a Murkmire DLC sized DLC for Winterhold based on the College of Winterhold. It just makes sense, unless I’m missing something about the lore. Was it around during the time that ESO takes place?
Well if they do, they need to do the city of Winterhold justice considering it was supposed to be one of the main cities of Skyrim before the collapse, don’t half arse it ZOS.

College of Winterhold seems like the perfect DLC for introducing spellcrafting. But we all know about the non-existent state of spellcrafting :(

A Skyrim chapter will be a thing in the future would be a good location for that, so watch this space and look for clues/ massive hints in Elsweyr. :)

Sorry to burst your bubble, but they mentioned in one of the latest interviews that spell crafting is not something they plan to be working on any time soon.

What in my comment "But we all know about the non-existent state of spellcrafting :(" makes you think that I live in a spellcrafting bubble?

Skyrim Chapter in 2021. Ten years after the release. We know that Bethesda loves anniversary stuff.

Although your idea is nice, right now ESO is focused on the new chapter and class (necromancer) which is in a totally different direction. Winterhold would mean returning to Skyrim somehow, and the devs seem to avoid Skyrim as a zone. Also we have the Psijics, so an other mage faction which resembles the mages guild quite a lot will bring little to the game.

First you would have to convince Zos that we should be able to learn spells as you suggest. They have stated again recently they are not working on Spell Crafting because of other issues they are focused on. If they are not working on spell crafting they are certainly not working on spell learning.

I would love The Winterhold area as a dlc, i’ve always been curious about how it was before the tidal waves and spent time looking around that area just trying to make sense of where the college stood vs Winterhold once being a large city. And since Necromancy is allowed in the college it would make perfect sense for the new class to fit in. As for Skills, spell crafting will simply break this game if we are talking about how Spellcrafting worked before in previous games unless they just add some pre determined spells that need to be unlocked by crafting them and not by simply leveling up a skill line.

They don't avoid it. They keep it for later use. So many people are waiting for a Skyrim chapter, they'll do it at some point. They're just waiting for the right moment.

We're definitely getting a DLC or two to add on to Skyrim. It's what the did the last two times. I won't hold my breath, but I'll cross my fingers that when we get Winterhold we'll get 1h+Rune weapons.

I expected Markarth to be the small DLC area we get at the end of year personally.

But it would be cool to see a built up Winterhold.

I think Winterhold DLC is possible, Whiterun too, which could Unite West and East. Malkarth too is possible with the vague chapter storyline...

Vigilants of Stendarr as a pro law mechanic, countering those pesky law breakers and taking a stand against the Grey Host too would be welcome. Make Templars Warriors of the Light.

When we finally get Winterhold it probably won’t have spellcrafting or one hand and rune skill lines. Instead, the College of Winterhold will be relegated to the same ole museum quest line that asks us to fetch relics and Collectables that are spread across the land.
Just like the missed opportunity that was The Bard’s College, they have another chance to disappoint a lot of the playerbase.

Knowin ZoS, they will add more Mage's Guild books to find for the Mage's College and sell it to us for $20.

Maybe I’m just unimaginative but I can’t see how a bard skill line would have been introduced in any way and be combat or buff related. Like playing a lite isn’t gonna make me live longer or hurt an enemy. I thought it was gonna be cheesy if they did something like that so I was glad when they just made it a museum thing.
