feedback: What do you think of the current state of synergies?

  • How are their ranges?
  • How are their duration?
  • Are they easy to use?
  • How are the sets that user synergies doing now?

My feedback:
Would like to see skills like trapping webs and mystic orbs add added to the parses of the user of the synergy instead of caster. How is that the damage done is effected by the user of the synergy but not on the user of synergy but caster? This affects the general perception of these skills in a negative light of the general community at larger

    Funny you would ask. I was in Sanctum Ophidia last night. The Synergies from Osara bolting your neighbors to the floor were much more responsive than they had been.

    I mean they're a thing.

    I wish there was more to them like the original design seemed to be, but as it is now it's use them if I am meant to (not reserved for tanks or offering benefit I don't need) and if my ability has one then great.

    I don't think I've taken a skill based on what synergy it offers in a very long time (granted that might be due to class/role) so I can't say much more than "they're a thing" for my personal gameplay.

    I would like to see there be allot more synergies added to the game, I personally love the aspect of using synergies to gain more then the skill's themselves are worth at face value.

    However I do think that the game doesnt encourage them past using specific sets like Alkosh in conjunction with them. You can put a Shadow silk down and despite the fact the synergy is very powerfull only a small hand full of players will ever activate it.

    As for how they are currently performing, I think some need major tweaking, for instance Bone Shield and its morph's have such a low activation range you have to be near to on top of your ally to use it. Shadow Silk being only activated by people at range means only mages can reliably proc it as most stam DD's are in close combat with dual weild and so is your tank, kind of limiting if you ask me. Synergies like Liquid Lighting are in a decent place I think but it could always do with a tiny buff maybe in the way of a short buff, debuff or dot to make it more entising, same could be said about Talon's synergy.

    Inner Fire's synergy is RNG based and nobody likes RNG so I would rather see it have a 100% chance but a long cool down, that way it can atleast be timed with a DD using Alkosh in a Trial. I think that the atronach synergy could do with abit of an extended duration due to its short activation range aswell and Blood Alter 's range could do with a increase too as it suffers with the same issue as Bone Shield.

    Anyway, TLDR I think Synergies could do with tweak's, some are in decent places but other's are not. On top ofthat I would love to see more synergies and a wider veriaty of distribution amoung skills both stam and magicka.

    Of course but when is last time you heard anyone mention mystic orbs. It doesn't reward the user of synergy like others options. It's what I say a design issue. If players aren't feeling rewarded then most won't use it which is happening now.

    Synergies are group tools. They benefit the entire group, and are largely fine in that respect. If people don't want to use synergies, because they don't increase their personal numbers then that is a problem with those people. People don't talk about Mystic Orb, because it's a terrible morph when compared to Energy Orb.

    The biggest issue I have with synergies is the randomness of being able to hit the synergy you want in heavy combat. There needs to be a tab for synergies in settings that allow you to choose a priority as to what appears first, and give you an option to completely turn off some synergies. As a PvP healer I generally only want to hit a resource synergy or purify. If I hit a synergy like Nova or Bone Shield I just hurt my group.

    Another thing that needs to change is the amount of people a synergy is available to. If a Nova drops, and the only people that can see the synergy are healers, or stamina DPS then that synergy has gone to waste.

    I'd also like to see more synergies in game. Anything that promotes intelligent group play is a great thing. Any additional skills with synergies are a positive addition to combat.

    They removed the animation, that's why its responsive.

    They're still mostly a side note in the scheme of things, there remains real untapped potential for group combat. More abilities need to provide synergies, I'd love it if every class's synergy providing skill was BiS.

    Pressing X for synergy feels like an after thought to me. It should be ability based, as in I press my synergy providing ability and it triggers available synergies. Or there is a specific skill that is used for activating synergies. Make synergies powerful and a more important part of group combat. It also provides a means for encouraging more varied group make ups, so that people want a Warden or a Dragonknight so that they come with their own unique synergies.
