What is the best way to gain Transmute stones quickly. I need 200 to change four pieces and don't want to take forever getting them either.

I think Battlegrounds is the fastest way to accumulate them. But if you aren't in a hurry, check when the 30 day campaigns end. Get 4 characters into Cyrodiil and get them up to tier 1 rewards (25000 AP). When the campaign ends you have your 200 Transmute Stones.

You don't have to do much at all. Doing about an hours worth of pvp will earn you 50 transmute stones at the end of the 30 day campaign. You can do this on multiple characters. I'm not sure of how much AP you need to earn, but I do know it's not much at all because I was getting the 50 stones on characters I forgot had gone into Cyrodiil.

The easiest way is the Tier 1 rewards in PvP (25,000 AP) which grants 50 Transmute Crystals. I try to get all of my characters to Tier 1 every month.

But you've still got 2.5 weeks left before the 30-day campaigns end.

So if you want them quickly, you'll have to go a different route.

Do all of the Trials (normal or vet) on a bunch of different characters for the weekly coffers.
Do all of the Pledges on a bunch of different characters.
Do some BGs and get your Rewards for the Worthy and One Day at a Time rewards.

Once you've done all of the things that are time-gated, best bet is Maelstrom farm. You get 4 crystals for a vMA clear (and more in a leaderboard reward), which has no cooldown.

Do 6 key pledges and you will get roughly 9 per day per character. Obviously depends on how much time you have but this can be good if you can run on several alts per day. Also doing each trial each week for the 5 stones from that is 30 per week as well.

I also get to 25k AP on 10 alts per month to get 50 stones for each. Getting this is really quick and doesn’t require any skill, especially if you can log on during pop boost.

I don’t do all of this every week but I still get enough to transmute 15-20 items per month if I want to.

I just don't have that many and mainly run one character lol. I'll just do random battleground daily, vet pledges, and cyrodiil.

You don't need to make a PvP character for Cyrodiil. I run PvE alts through there all the time. The 25000 AP to get to teir 1 is very easy. Just zerg surf a keep or two, help take a few resources and you're done. I think the longest it ever took me was about 1/2 an hour on a character whose only contribution to the fight was caltrops.

But if the campaign doesn't end for a couple more weeks, as LiquidPony said, there is the wait.

You barely have to do anything to get tier 1. I hate pvp too and was disappointed when I heard this was an option, but it's really quick and easy. Going into pvp, buy a few siege items, find a zerg group, take 2-3 keeps and you got your tier 1 reward. Takes 45-60 min per character to get to tier 1, and you only have to do it once a month.

To be honest you don't even need to make a proper pvp build. As Mintaka said, just zerg surf. Alternatively be one of those guys who just siege from the back lines. You'll still earn enough AP in a short amount of time.

This, note you also get reward of the worthy boxes, who give 5+ crystals, but just has an chance for crystals if you open multiple each day, in short is an long game.
Just join say LFG in zone, if no response head to towards the front and ask every second minute.
save the 50 crystal geodes if you can and repeat this again until you have an stack on an bank alt.
Have the bank alt pick up the mail with crystals as they can not be banked.
Two other options1 ) farm and see if you can get better gear 2) test the gear, trait is not so important, if you has to min max you should know how to farm crystals.

you don't need to fight to gain AP, you can just do your part and repair structures - walls/doors/towers(don't), bridges/milegates. repairs cost coin or AP but you gain ap towards campaign

As others have said, PVP is the best way to accumulate them.

I took 14 characters into Vivec one campaign, got my 25k AP on all of them and got 700 transmute crystals worth of geodes when the campaign ended (plus what I got from the rewards of the worthy). I keep 1 or 2 characters in there every month to get a 'top up' supply and will never run out of crystals.

If you really hate PVP, you can just farm for the right trait gear - like we used to have to do.
