More Keybinds, Please

For gamepad UI users and console players.

I have an injury irl that prevents me from having full function in my hands, so I cannot use keyboard and mouse. I play everything nowadays with my xbox controller, as its the only way I can possibly game.

One thing that disheartens me is the distinct lack of possible keybinds gamepad users have access to.

Looking at the current game keybinds, the game allows for a pull of the left trigger/l2 and the A button as the default keybind to dodge roll. Why then is there no keybind available for LT+B, LT+Y, LT+A, RT+A/B/X/Y

This would give a huge quality of life and playability boost to gamepad users without stepping on the toes of anyone else, and definitely help make gamepad users more competitive in pvp. I know theres a ton of great players out there who use gamepad mode, but I think more keybinds is something everyone can get behind.

On top of that, even if you did, pressing those buttons in the first place would conflict with the ingame keybinds you have set for those two buttons individually. Youd have to unbind them totally, which at that point would require you to create an entire profile for eso.

I've spent some time trying different options, including assigning dodge roll to a double press of my B button to free up LT+A for something else, but in that case my character still casts the ability I have on my B button before dodge roll animation canceling it

This would get the game functioning, but then I lose the ability to navigate the gamepad UI with my controller, which is a problem because as I mentioned I lost a lot of use of my hands. I try to stay off the keyboard as much as I can.

Out of curiosity, how do you have your rewasd set up to make LT and B/X/Y set up to cast an ability? The way I handled this in WoW is LT was bound to shift, RT was bound to ctrl, and LT+RT was shift+ctrl, which game me more than enough keybinds for WoW, but even in eso you cant keybind shift or ctrl + another key.

agreed, i play ps4. so no outside program to rebind "keys" (technicly there is a way but it screws with alot of things like using chat menu nav and typing)

A big issue im having is your cant run and barswap at the same time on console. You have to take your thumb of left stick to hit left d pad

thats a huge issue in a game where for alot of content, you have to move in a fight.

one recent example. if you need to bar swap while kiting crem guard. you will have to stop moving for a sec

they really need to give us an option to rebind keys outside of menu nav

everything should be rebindable and we need to be given the option for press and hold on buttons

also would really be great it they let us decouple jump and interact and res player from menu

each of those have specific issues being binded together. jump and interact makes it so in a propmt appears while your trying to jump. say over a log and a torchbug is floating. it will pull you into the menu to pickup the torchbug. res player also has a problem with the fact that in can, in fight, open your menu or go to the player interaction wheel.

not to mention it can put players at a disadvantage. if you invest 250$ to buy a elite/pro controller you can rebind barswap to a paddle on back. meaning those players are able to barswap and run. and it sounds like a small complaint but being able to stay mobile and barswap in a game like eso is a HUGE advantage

this is one of my top console specific issues on eso. its up there tied or ahead of wanting lorebook and skyshards on map

its really not that easy. this whole thing would be fixed if we just had acces to the keybinds i mentioned in my OP. Ive tried nearly everything you could think of, nothing works perfectly, and theres 0 harm in getting a few more keybinds. please stop trying to argue your way around this post into making it our fault.

Look, I play with a controller. You are having a problem with a controller. I use my right hand to swap weapons when I need to use the left stick. You can do the same. I am trying to help. You are right, no harm in adding more keybinds. I am letting you know what you can do to till they do.

Look, I play with a controller. You are having a problem with a controller. I use my right hand to swap weapons when I need to use the left stick. You can do the same. I am trying to help. You are right, no harm in adding more keybinds. I am letting you know what you can do to till they do.

i have my weapon swap bound to right bumper, and everything else is way different from default. ive bent over backwards to make it work for me. all o it unnecessary with the additional keybinds i mentioned in my op.

no, it does not seem to work for gamepad. i didnt know it existed so i picked it up to try it, no such luck.
