Auction House is not happening

I and many, many other players are thoroughly sick and tired of every trader based discussion being hijacked by the pro-auction house lobbyists.
There will be no auction house. Stop asking for it.

MODS: Would you kindly issue a formal statement to this effect and sticky it please.
Also, would you please now remove any new responses of 'AH' and 'Auction House' on the basis that are baiting. This quite clearly what all these responses are no designed to.

I many other players do not want this solution. We would really appreciate it, if tis constant bating on this issue is stopped.

I want to be able to participate in trader discussions without these threads being continually sidetracked by this dead-horse issue.

So, you started a whole new thread just to tell everyone to quit talking about it?

Sorry, that conversation isn't going to go away. Your best bet for avoiding it is you take it upon yourself to stop reading those threads and dont contribute. That's the best way to make it go away.

As a side note, all those wonderful 3rd party addons that compile pricing data have functionally turned guild traders into an Auction House, just with the added inconvenience of having to go through multiple load screens and spend unnecessary amounts of time searching multiple traders to find the best prices. It sucks for buyers.

The guy that made the thread is basically upset because a lot of people want a global AH to fix the issues with the trader guilds manipulating the trader system and making crazy amount of money off it. He also is one of the people that doesn't understand the a "global ah" is essentially in the PC version of the game because they have add-ons that make the game played in a way it never was intended to be played.

On PC they can see where items are in world and their prices just by typing it's name. So they only have to use 1 load screen to find the item where console players don't have that option. He is also saying that the economy will tank with a global ah but again PC basically has it already and their market has never crashed. On console we have huge Monopolies where fake guilds purchase a trader and sell it for more money or for their friends making it so not everyone can get a prime spot.

So in sum he wants PC players to stay ahead of the curve with all their advantages they get through add-ons. If zos isn't going to impliment them in the game then players using add-ons should get suspended or banned for using third party products much like other MMO games do. PC players use to also tell console players that we didn't need a text chat option since we had voice chat available........... So they basically wanted us to be cavemen stuck in the Stone age.

If you don't like us telling the truth then please stop reading what we say the forum is a place where players can voice their opinions that doesn't mean you have to read topics that you don't like.

1) The mods are not your personal sticky/thread cleanup crew. They are here to enforce the TOS, not your personal agenda.

2) You cannot claim that everyone who brings up the auction house is doing so to bait or derail a thread. Many of those threads are focused on fixing the current trader system and players bringing up the auction house as a valid option are bringing their opinion to the discussion.

And how do you know there will never be an auction house? Oh that's right you don't actually know that. Maybe you should stop acting like a crybaby when someone has a different opinion then you.

For the longest time, it was a dead horse on the forums to ask for two-handed weapons to count for two bonuses...until it wasn't.

Or asking for IC to be a separate campaign.

Or even the most recent example, I would have bet real money on never getting a Guild Store Search UI...and I'd been wrong.

I mean, I'm not a fan of an Auction House (and don't use TTC), and I'm certainly willing to argue "ZOS doesnt seem to have any interest in this" as a valid point in an argument. But the caveat there is that we don't know that for sure and certain until ZOS actually states that they have no interest in something...and they do that rarely. I'd chalk that up to their communication issues and understanding that they don't want to either disappoint people with a "Nope!" or when it takes longer to implement than they hoped.

Ultimately, the most we can say is that the horse is "mostly dead". A miracle man at ZOS might revive it if they really want to.

I just wanted to point out that many threads about Auction houses are in fact about "trading houses" (without auctions).
So the name is kinda misleading.

I do belive that something like that is neded as it would solve a couple of problems:
1. Greate alternative for wtb/wts chat spam (seriously, that is the worst trading system I have ever seen in a mmo).
2. Market monopolisation - large guilds tend to do that by making "dummy" fake guilds just to ensure they will be able to perma-take certain trading vendor spots. I do not belive that this is intended by design.

Allowing small guilds / solo players to sell limited number of items would slightly decrease market monopolisation. There is a huge potential in solo players & small guilds economy wise.

It is also worth noting that ESO economy is not at all like RL economy. Imagine what would happen if we had a global cap of trading spots that can be in our world...

Note: I understand that there are players out there who are a part of a large trading guild and they are simply afraid that they might lose something if such system will be implemented. That is why we have threads like this. If OP had an relatively objective point of view, he/she would know that such a system would be overall healthy for in-game economy.

No. I was not "baiting". I was explaining why people are never going to stop talking about it. Not liking the response does not make the response wrong or a violation of the rules.

You, on the other hand, are asking the moderators to limit a particular topic of conversation because you cannot resist the urge to engage in said topic of conversation. I simply told you what the reality of the matter is:

The only way to make that discussion "go away" is you need to stop participating in it. You cannot make the internet change. That's not how this works.

So, can we get a global auction house then? I hadn't really thought about it, but then this nice person made a thread alllll about the global auction house and it got me thinking about global auction houses and what they mean to the game.

The thing with global auction house in this game though is it goes against the ethos of the trading system that they have established. So when I really think about auction houses in ESO, it doesn't really make sense. There are traders in every city and they want you to pretend that you are going on shopping excursions, not visiting a global auction house.

What I wonder though is why the OP is so adamant that they can tell the moderators what and how to do things concerning the global auction house. The moderators are not here at the beck and call of the auction house conspiracy police.

Don't get me wrong, in no way am I using the words Auction, nor house nor global auction house as many times as possible so when someone searches for "global auction house" this thread shows up on Google first page results. That would be weird to dedicate that amount of effort to global auction house discussions.

I'm glad Andocranium brought this up. We do need a better trader system and we should discuss how to achieve that.

When the game launched I would have liked a sticky post informing all those Skyrim fans that dragons will never appear in ESO. Man, would they've looked stupid had they done that.

I cannot see how an AH would cause the ESO market to crash? I mean, they have them in WOW if I remember correctly right? Seemed to work out fine there, and the location was a gathering point for players to meet others, similar to how they meet where the Undaunted Dailies are picked up, this promoted more communications among players, and was where I had the opportunity to first meet other players and become involved in guilds etc.

So, I am not grasping how an AH would cause problems? What am I missing here?

I'm sick and tired of people like you telling people what they should and should not do or ask for on these forums. People can ask for and discuss what ever they like within the constraints of the game. It is the Moderator's job to decide what is allowed, not yours.

You don't like it, you know what you can do.

What an imagination you have there. I don't use TTC.

Furthermore, it is console technology that is holding the basic trading system in the dark ages.
If PC users didn't have add-ons, we'd all be using the same ludicrously cumbersome interface that console users have given everyone, by default.

There is no defined market in this game. Guild traders were created to allow guild members to buy off each other. The store trader bidding system was designed to allow temporary, week by week access to all players.
