Lag spike, then kicked to character screen

Anyone ever have this happen to them in BGs? I was just in a match where I experienced a ton of lag all of a sudden (no abilities firing, no enemy players moving), and got booted to the character select screen. No loss of internet connection at any point, no login screen error message, NOTHING. Just booted to character select. And, of course, when I log in again, I have a deserter penalty...

I guess I’m lucky that this is the first time it has happened to me.
I’ve done nothing in game but play BGs for the past several months, and have never had the error before. I’ve been kicked to the LOGIN screen, with a false lost connection error message, but I’ve never been kicked back to the character selection screen...
