This might be a bit of a personal issue...I am somoene who always chooses an RP server if only so i dont have to deal with all the "Noobhunter5000XXX" of this world.
This is something that really starts bothering me, being in a dungeon or trial group and seeing those kinda names that are so incredibly lore breaking that they are hard to ignore and always stick out like a sore thumb.
Am im the only one bothered by this and do you think since we only got one server there should be naming rules in place?
ps: i understand the argument that people should have the freedom to play what you want - i just think this problem was solved nicely in the past with having rp servers where naming restrictions were applied...and it's not like those rp servers werent sought out
Pps: not talking about e.g. a nord with an argonian name or the such...that is still lore friendly - even funny names can be very lore friendly...im talking about gamer tag-like names and the such that have nothing to do with elder scrolls such as ROXXOR5000 or n00bmasterxxx or something like that

In ESO? I'd tend to think CS wouldn't want to *** off a lot of the current player base - and it IS a lot. I see FAR more garbage names than lore-oriented ones - probably 10-1. In fact.... the occasional lore seeming name causes me to do a double take....

Not really, but all the glowing pantomime shite costumes that's bloody everywhere does, like a shi?e 80's fancy dress party.

Mostly because if "XXX420(insertdeludedboastaboutskillhere)1337XXX" shows up, I'll immediately know this is someone I want nothing to do with.

✭✭✭✭✭My characters have lore appropriate name's for their race. That's why I asked ZOS to add the Name Change tokens and was delighted when they listened!
Other people can name their characters whatever they want as long as it doesn't violate the TOS. If I see a questionable name, I'll report it with note asking a "Hey, is this acceptable under the TOS?" and let ZOS sort it out.1 -

No one should be required to have a 100% "lore fitting" name. that said names like N00BSLAY3R-XXX are stupid.
Like what if you were found as a little altmer baby by breton parents and they decided to name you "Richard", that could be a totally valid reason for an altmer to have a non aldmeri name.Playing your character the way your character should play is all that matters. Play as well as you can but never betray the character. Doing so would make playing an mmoRPG pointless.3 -

I don't particularly like them, but people are free to name themselves xXSephiroth's WillyXx or whatever if they want to.
As others have said above, they're probably people I wouldn't want to bother associating with. I don't find those kinds of names amusing or anything.
