I actually have a Mageblade Altmer, Khajiit, Argnoian and Dunmer so.....I may make a Breton Mageblade now for my collection of Mageblades. I love Mageblading.

I have a stable of magblades too; Highelf, wood elf, dark elf, argonian, and dunmer.

I'm ps4 AND i am performing some tests, i'll post and notify once the game is back up and i have about an hour!

      In what content though?

For PVP it'll largely depend on your build whether you are melee/ranged, tanky/ganky, etc. It'll also depend on the sets you will be running. I suspect that that is also the case for PVE.

previously @HaruKamui but I outgrew my weeb phase (probably)

Unfortunately, you can't ignore the Bosmer stamblade now. he sticks out like a sore thumb without his passive.

      Both are good choices and work for all content though personally I would say;
Breton for PvP - Max mag, Spell resist, Ability cost reduction.
Altmer for PvE - Mag recovery, Max mag, Elemental damage increase.

Yeah, you really need to read the patch notes...

Breton is BIS for 99% of the playerbase. Are you in a perfectly cohesive trial group with perfect support, so you will always get that orb on cooldown and wont need to ever fend for yourself? Then Altmer is probably a bit better. Most people just cant say that. The damage difference is tiny and the sustain difference is night and day. NB with their OP sustain is probably the class where it matters the least, but breton is still the BIS magic class for PVE DPS for all but about 2 trial groups per server.

For PVP, I would still say Breton over high elf, but you can make arguments for dunmer, khajiit, and argonian depending on playstyle and build. I would take the the raw stam from dunmer over the stam regen from altmer in PVP.

My magblade is an imperial so I am probably not the person you should ask. :D (Yes, I made the choice fully aware of Imperial passives)

I did my own tests and basically my high elf experienced no decrease in dps and breton lost 10%

but that may be how i play it.

My magicka nightblade is known for spending her free time doing many nefarious things, among which include slaughtering sheep in mass quantities. She imagines they are all named "meta" as she kills them.

This guy gets it. If both can parse the same, there is no reason to pick an Altmer over Breton. The innate sustain a Breton gets is universally better than the slightly better spell damage you can get as an Altmer.

My main was an Altmer Templar healer. The loss of any and all magic sustain killed her as soon as this patch dropped. But hey, having that superb stamina sustain on a magic based character sure was worth it.

Don't ever pick an Altmer. Dunmer are far better. Both stamina passives are questionable on magic races, but the Dunmer max stamina pool is far more useful than the incredibly idiotic stamina regen on an Altmer.

Plus, if you ever get bored, you can swap to a decent stamina build on a Dunmer. Try to do that on an Altmer and you'll be getting magic regen instead. It's bad no matter what you try build for.
