Since the introduction of the Outfit System, wearing a costume is kinda lame.
Why look the same with tons of other players while you could create your own unique look?

Well thats my thoughts more or less. It would be nice if we could get costumes divided by parts and use them in our outfits. Even new costumes could be used this way, so if we want, we can use full costume look but if we don't we can use just parts we like.

It depends how you look at it.

Yes, I think costumes that use motif pieces are now pretty much pointless.

For battle, outfits are better, for the most part, though there are a small number of costumes which give you the look of a fighter, that are simply not available at the outfit station.

But for sad nerds RP'ers like myself, the clothing outfits, such as the various 500 crown outfits based on the races or such... Those are great fun! I wear them when in cities. But then I also toggle off running because I'm a sad nerd RP'er.

only lame when you use the easily obtained ones. any ways they are a LOT cheaper.

besides far too many of you have terrible sense on what looks good and instead are competing for the loudest clown title. B)

I tried to do that in Skyrim and almost went crazy going from one end of Riverwood to the other.

Not everyone wants to look like they're wearing armour pieces all the time. The costumes system enables me to wear dresses on occasion. Plus, they can be dyed for a unique look. I like costumes.

They should every dlc/maintenance make each costume 1 by 1 into broken up outfit peices added as a costume and a motif. Give new life to old costumes

Depends what you do with your costume - dye mine & so they look much better than spending hours (& lots of gold) trying to find a certain look at the Outfit station. Especially if I don’t actually want to look like I am wearing armour.

But would like it if, as suggested, costumes were in bits i.e. top / trousers / skirt etc as them could really make interesting outfits.

I don't use the outfit system because of the outrageous cost in gold... if the cost was zero, I'd agree with you :)

I'd do more with the outfit station if we could get extra outfit slots for a reasonable price. As it is now, each of my characters (that I've worked out a look for) uses her one slot for her designated look, and I don't find it worth the time, effort, and gold to change things around whenever I, say, switch gear sets or just want to tweak something. So in those cases, I toss on a costume to make my life easier. It doesn't bother me that other people have the same costume, I just want to like the way my characters look.

I have nearly all motifs but no sense of fashion so costumes are perfect for me. Some dyes are hard to get or crown only so chances are you can be unique.

I like and use both. Though I love the outfitting system, it can be challenging to go without hip flappers, crotch flappers and especially shoulder flappers. I mean what self-respecting mage wants those vestiges of (ugh) armor?!? Costumes are commonly free of those ugly things. The ability to hide shoulders for the outfitting system would go a long way toward improving things. But yeah, I like and use both.

On a serious note, most of motifs/outfits are armor or robes, aka most of the formal cloth/dressings and ceremonial armors are found only in costumes

options are allways better, all the costumes should be allowed in the crafting coloring station to be adjusted and altered by not just the colors, just like the armors are.

I wear a costume just to cover up the ugly monster set pieces and because I dont feel like screwing around with the costume system.

I'm not really much into the Elder Fashion Online and dont really care how my character looks. The monster pieces are distracting so I just wanted a quick way to remove them... problem solved.

There still are valid reasons why wear costumes.
      - General lack of shorter skirts as armor pieces. Mazzatun doesn't really work for everything due to that blury, deformed strip of fabric inbetween legs.
      - Many otherwise usable chest pieces are ruined by awkward crotchflaps.
      - Not enough civilian pieces available as standalone style pieces.
      - Visually or thematically matching style pieces of different armors often react quite differently to the same dye.
      - One costume generally costs less than one outfit slot - and it unlike that outfit slot, costume is account-wide.

costumes can be dyed for free if you have ESO plus, but more importantly - they allow me to have a guild tag, without having to cover up half my outfit with gigantic and not matching tabard.

and I like a lot of the costumes and cannot recreate them with outfits, so.. pftttt
