Suggestion - New Player PvP Guide

You know it took me a long time to figure out some basic mechanics and what I need for pvp in this game.

I was doing pvp on an alt and noticed people’s health pool’s were low. I told some player’s about the cheap level appropriate food from the battleground vendor (there are pots too) and they didn’t know about it. I asked in my guilds and was surprised they didn’t know either!

Someone should write an introduction to ESO pvp guide I’m thinking. I’m lazy and am terrible at writing guides, so someone else should do it, but it’s a good idea.

Here are some things I’ve found people don’t know about I’d put in there:
- there are cheap food and pvp pots on the battleground merchant that scale to your level. The stats change every 5 levels
- stay with your team in a death match leeroy
- In domination capping is more important than killing blows or deaths, I’ve won some against noobie premades where I had 0 kills and 7 deaths
- Buff your health. I see a lot of players try to pvp like it’s pve and go glass canon, you want to be well rounded
- Be aggressive

That’s all I can think of for now. Guess I’m thinking it’s better to try and make a constructive thread to teach new players then spam ‘whine/nerf x/there aren’t enough pvpers’ threads all the time.
Looking for any guildies I used to play with:
Havoc Warhammer - Alair
LoC EQ2 - Mayi and Iskiab
PRX and Tabula Rasa - Rift - Iskiab
Or anyone else I used to play games with in guilds I’ve forgotten

@Joy_Division 's guide for Midyear Mayhem remains one of the best guides I've found. It contains pretty much everything I didnt know I needed to know when I started to PVP in Cyrodiil.

Not a bad guide, except it encourages playing defensively. PvP rewards playing aggressively, the aggressor always has the advantage. People who pvp a lot without learning this essentially learn how to lose, and try to lose ‘better’ but are just losing in a different way.

The advice sounds like it’s suggesting going in without defensive buffs and then turtling when you’re 50 percent health, maybe I’m misreading it. That’s the worst advice you can give to someone.

Still needs to be more specific imo.

Playing aggressively isn’t necessarily rewarded. In this game it’s generally more rewarding to play “defensive” hence why eso is still in a turtle meta long after heavy armor was nerfed.

The players that get rewarded for being aggressive the most are solo and small scale players and that’s only for smart aggressive play. Other than that players that aren’t in that category usually are overly aggressive and end up easy kills. That’s why farming is so easy because people mindlessly throw themselves at you. If a new player tries to be aggressive with me , their aggressiveness will be the exact reason why they died.

Hum, I somewhat agree. If you’re talking about someone being aggressive solo ahead of everyone else then yea I agree.

If it’s small group+ then when going in as a group playing playing aggressively when you engage is what wins. I pvp heal and it irks me like crazy when I see dps use all defensive abilities when we engage. Their little dps defense abilities work when dueling but are basicly useless against multiple opponents. I’ll heal their full health pool 3x over before they’ve used a damage attack. Then they’ll think they were clever for being the first to run away.

It’s the prisoner’s dilemma if you’re familiar with it. Each person individually is best off from a KvD perspective to run away and only attack when they can safely attack without taking damage, but if everyone’s aggressive everyone’s better off. Those who haven’t figured this out are the ones with good ‘KvD’ scores on the losing team, who then blame it on everyone else and keep losing.
