Maul passive penetration

Hi,

I am experimenting on a new build and I am having trouble with the results for penetration, I have managed to get 12.3k physical penetration at all times, this is not taking into account the 20% physical resistance ignored by the maul passive, what i am struggling to work out is whether or not the 20% ignored is being applied before or after my 12.3k physical penetration, does anybody know for sure if the 2H maul passive is applied before or after penetration set bonuses?

Maul penetration is calculated from enemy resistance. So after debuffs like Major Fracture, Crusher, Alkosh, but your own penetration (CP, Spriggan, Lover, ...) doesnt reduce enemy resistance so it doesnt affect Maul penetration.

I was worried that the 20% was based on after sets/lover! That's awesome thank you.

To get some confirmation via piggybacking on an old thread...

The 20% maul reduction is calculated from your opponent's resistance number prior to that number being lowered by any debuff or your own penetration. (Essentially preserving the maul passive's maximum effectiveness)

Do I have that right?

No. It is calculated from the leftover resistances after all the debuffs are applied. It is not affected by your own penetration.

Ok, so debuffs do reduce it's net effectiveness, but your pen does not. Got it. Thanks!

What you are looking for is Target.PhysicalDebuff)*(1 - Skill2.PhysicalPenetration) - PhysicalPenetration)

So anything that debuffs the target(Crusher,Major/Minor Reduction, Alkosh, ect) will apply first.

Then any passive/skills that are not debuffs will get applied. So this is where Maul pen would be

Finally any flat pen from sets/CP gets applied.
