How do you swap between a PVE build to a PVP build?

Hi guys,

So I've been thinking recently of trying out some PvP. However, I only ever play with one character and was wondering how you guys swap your builds between PvE and PvP? It's obviously not practical to be resetting Champion Points every time you want to switch between the two. Do people have two separate characters to play the two different types of content? Or do you set your CP up for one type of content and just roll with it in the other?

Just roll with it. I also did both used PVE CP allocation in PVP and vice versa. Its all about the fun we are not at work while gaming. sometimes having everything perfect is really nice when you have focus on 1 thing if multiple focusses just roll, enjoy

Depends on the level you want to play either content at. A lot of the change is just gearing (different traits / focus) some classes can do better with not having to change skills depending on content focus again. CP wise in pve you normally focus more on sustain dmg where as pvp is more about burst dmg currently.

I reset my CPs when switching back and forth. Also switch my CPs for different trials. I contribute heavily to that gold sink.

I was talking more about CP specifically rather than gear, as it costs every time you want to change your points around.

That’s a tough one. I think you’re going to have to decide what you’re going to spend most of your time doing with that character and fine tune for that and then with a gear and skill change the char will be adequate for the other stuff. At this moment there is no easy or cheap way to reallocate CP.

All i switch is my gear..doubt swapping my pvp cp to pve will make my dps go from 35k to 50k

However in cp pvp it could be the difference from fighting or being 1shotted

I'm mainly going to play PvE content, then just dabble in Cyrodiil every now and then. I'm not wanting to do anything miraculous in PvP. Just dont want a build that's absolutely absolutely useless and where I cant even compete.

I personally have a PvE CP allocation and I play BGs and non-CP Cyro. So I only have to change my gear and my skills. If you want to change your CP allocation as well, I’m not sure if there’s an easy solution for that. You might want to look at addons, but spending gold every time is something you can’t circumvent.

Then just swap gear and skills. Or play the non-CP PVP content. But in reality, unless you want to make a run an the Emperor title or be the AIDS of Cyrodiil, you can get by with a simple gear and skill tradeout.

Or create another character that is PVP-only. That would really be the fastest...

I personally have a two characters for pve (my main tank and the second alt that i've made a templar healer) with pve gear and cp, and tree alts ready for pvp only, a NB and a sorcerer for "normal" cyrodill and a warden that is ready for bg and no CP pvp.
I simply switch between toons depend on what i want to do that day

Assuming you have enough CP and skill points to go around, switching between the two for the most part just requires switching sets.

I wouldn’t suggest going into Cyrodiil in all divines (unless you’re bombing/ganking maybe), nor will you be most efficient in a trial in all impen. My main is a stamden that I mostly PvP on, but sometimes also use for Stam dps. I switch my sets, some skills skills, and change my back bar S/B to bow.

Only "dual role" toon I got is a healer. In PVE it wears Jorvuld's Guidance, and in PVP I switch that for an Impen Transmutation set - ready to go.

If I'm just after rewards and crystals on as many toons as I can, I'm happy taking all of my PVE characters into PVP just as they are because it's too much of a hassle changing gear, skills and CP around.

It's so easy to get 25k AP (for end of campaign rewards crystals) that I'd spend nearly as much time switching their kits out and back as I would actually spend in PVP.

Having said that, 4 out of my 15 characters on my main account are set up purely for PVP, so when I want to PVP I use one of them. The benefit of having a full list of characters I guess.

I duplicated my main as far a build, gear etc. My main does PvP for the ava ranks & titles, my PvE sorc "clone" does everything PvE. Daily CP re-assignment was a pain for me as well. I stopped caring about achievements for my main that do not grant a title or skin a while ago.

You could also pick no-CP content to solve the problem. 3k gold is substantial if you're new and don't have the hoards that some vets have.

Why is it not practical to swap cp? Takes 30 seconds. Certainly the other option is to make a character for each type of content, but plenty of people just swap CP, mundus, gear, and likely a few skill morphs. If you try to build for both on the same toon, you will be mediocre at best on either.

At a minimum, you need to mess with your crit resist and likely your penetration CP. you will almost certainly want different traits on your gear, and probably different sets as well.

The other issue with a backup toon is that it’s becoming more and more of a pain. I have 3 sorcs at level 50, but I play the same one in both trials and pvp. Mostly because I might jump out a window if I have to do that darn psijic quest one more time.

I play in Sotha Sil campaign (no CP Cyrodiil), so I do not have to hassle with CP. I only need to swap the equipment and skills and my char always has her PVE equipment and PVP equipment on her. Now, of course there is the matter of skill morphs (Dawnbreaker for example), well, because I feel like I do not have to be the top performer on PVP, I keep them in their PVE morph. PVP is just fun and games for me. (so yes, I do not use dawnbreaker of smithing, it is flawless dawnbreaker for me)

    You have some options:
    1. Get a lot of skill points and do it on one character. Then play non-CP cyrodiil and BGs
    2. Make two separate characters; one for pvp and one for PvE and do CP cyrodiil
    3. Get a lot of skill points, play CP pvp and reset your CPs every time you switch back and forth
    4. Get a lot of skill points, play CP pvp and don’t change your CPs every time, constantly get destroyed, come to the forums and complain about other classes being overpowered, have everyone else who chose different options wonder what you’re talking about, then rage about how it’s everyone else’s fault and complain about how ESO pvp isn’t fair
Looking for any guildies I used to play with:
    Havoc Warhammer - Alair
LoC EQ2 - Mayi and Iskiab
PRX and Tabula Rasa - Rift - Iskiab
Or anyone else I used to play games with in guilds I’ve forgotten

I've always switched as have the one main DD. But of late I've started to use my healer as a DD more so save the effort.

As long as you aren't focused on end-game content, you should be fine. I use the same setup for the most part.

When there are too many trash mobs to kill in pve I change skoria to grothdarr, seems to work better. Takes a second too.

And sometimes put on siroria now but my usual build has gotten me everywhere.

There is an addon you can save CP profiles, but it does cost 3k each time.
