[Spoiler] Did you save the worm king?

During the final quest in cold harbour, I saved the worm king, not because I thought he had earned mercy but because I really wanted to be the one to kill him. He didn't deserve to live, even in torment. In tamriel, there are places worse than cold harbour after death, and killing him would send him there.

Sadly, if any of you have saved him, you know that did not work out in my favour.

What did you guys do, and why?

I paused and considered saving him but then his smart mouth did him in!

    Spoiler?

Edit: I did save him on my first char, because I didn't know what would happen - afterwards I reminded his appearance in the singleplayer series and thought: "Oh, I think that had to be the canon version."

I did not repeat the quest on other toons though, so maybe next time I won't save him to see what changes.

Well what we know for sure is that you don't kill him, since he makes an appearance in Oblivion. But I set him free nonetheless.

I've only done the main story once and it was a very long time ago. I don't recall.

Probably spared him. I'm that way inclined. But maybe not.

No, I let him stay trapped. He deserves no mercy from me.

Does not matter lore and future events, means he escapes regardless. He still escapes if you leave him there.Might take him a lot longer to return to Tamriel. But at some point he does.

Left him there. Could't care less about such a weak mage as Mannimarco. He was an annoyance.

He said sentence "where is the Amulet Of Kings?" so many times it gives me headache. I left him to give an opportunity to earn an important lesson. Deadric Princes are dangerous.

Mannimarco is a tough b'stard to kill.

He always comes back  and at the same time will never go away either since the Warp in the West -- he finally gets his wish in TES2.

I didn't spare him, and haven't done in any run through. The way I see it, you can defeat him, but you can't beat him -- he'll be back, somehow, just adds to the mystery and myth of his character.

The scene in which Molag Bal snatches him away in the quest with the Amulet of Kings is the one time in this game where I'm happy to see Molag Bal and actually want to thank him. I always thought Mannimarco deserved his fate. So I never ever considered freeing him, and I won't in the future either - especially since I know that he gets out somehow anyway, and I don't want to be the one responsible for this :P

I left pretty much all of the bad quest npcs imprisoned there. That was many years ago when I did all of the quests on my first character. Now he just rots there by himself on newer characters who need soul assault.

Saved him due to headcanons. He will run away and kill Vanus in the canon later eventually.

Firstly I didn't wanted to kill him, that's not what heroes usually do, but then I thought, oh screw this, how many times world would evade terrible things if someone wouldn't be so "pure and heroic". The world of Tamriel is cruel just like ours, it needs people who don't afraid to get their hands dirty.

I did in beta but not in live.

However, I will sacrifice Valaste every time for the 2 points.

If we got 2 points for letting Mannimarco live, guess what my choice would be every time.

I mocked him as he lay there, writhing in pain. He deserved nothing less. I pretended to press the button multiple times, until one time, I slipped, pressed the buttton and set him free! Whoops D:

With my toon who is dedicated to giving people second chances, I set him free. With the rest I left him there. Not to say, of course, that if he shows up again I won't annihilate him--SECOND chances doesn't mean infinite ones, and he clearly blew it by being unrepentant.

My Vestige Varanis Arano let him go, not because he deserved mercy or she wanted revenge but because she didn't like the idea of leaving anyone behind to be tortured. She freed all the prisoners there, and would have gotten everyone out of that one Daedra's tournament too if she could, but had to choose Angof since he was actually repentant.

I’ve done it three times, I think I only let him go the first time, I don’t recall.

I thought this thread was about who you chose out of the 3 zone villains to fight for in the Coldharbor arena. One was a Veiled Heritance high elf kin lady Dominion players knew, one was a Breton cultist I assume Pact players know, and the other was Angof from the Covenant quest line. I chose Angof the last 3 times because he was humbled.

i've done the main story about 8 times, so i have about equally saved him and left him to his fate :)

i figured he wont know who i am anyway as Meridia dose that jiggery pokery that makes everyone forget that i battered Molag Bal in a 1v1 :D so figured Manimardico wont remember either XD

On my first playthrough I released him because I hoped that he would somehow help or not be as evil (despite knowing what happens in Oblivion).

The second time I left that sucker to be Molag's bondage slave :)

I did free Faolchu. Sure, he was evil and all when he was alive, but he was killed. He didn't choose to be resurrected and serve Molag, so I didn't think it was fair for him to be eternally tortured by him.
