It was a good fight for a console environment and you did well.
The most important thing is that you definitely enjoyed it.

Rank to me suggests experience. Generals have spent a lot of time with their builds and have fighting down to a science, that is if they didn't earn all that AP by just zerg surfing or keep repairing.
I've had very few fights where I either last a long time or actually win. I'm a dictionary squishy PvE Stamblade, my build doesn't use crit resist and the only actual investment ive made is crafting weapon power and detect pots. It is fun fighting other PvE builds cause we're on more even ground, but at the same time i feel a little bad cause since I'm a PvE Stamblade, if I attack someone who doesn't have higher armor and crit resist then I hit like a truck.

So what happens when you run across people with dedicated volunteer titles ? Or people with multiple accounts? Or new characters?

Rank isnt the only indicator i use. I look at their character visually, do they have buffs up preemptively? Wearing any dungeon or trial skins? Moving with purpose? Health pool over 22k? You get to a point where you can tell the difference most of the time.
well here is an analyse of your fight:
Beside the fact your opponent weren't really good. You lack of reactivity mainly. I mean by that, you used your vigor twice if i'm not mistaken in this fight. You have the possibility to cloak, and you did well using it, but you could have keep your vigor up all the time, and that way never get under 50% health. Thats the main issue i noticed. The second one, you don't keep enough pressure on them, and don't light attack between your skills enough aswell. Be more quick, cut anim better, and you will be able to kill them even more faster wihtout taking a lot of dmg.
And if you enjoyed it, then you succeed to have fun in this game.
PS: Like it already had been said, high rank in the most 80% of the case, means nothing, except you farmed ap.
