Stamina Dragon Knight Dunmer: A viable choice?

So I have a Dunmer sitting around, who is currently a Fire Mage. Though seeing as they now have been reworked to compliment both physical and magic damage, I was considering rerolling him in to Stamina, or potentially in to a hybrid of the two.

Just... I wanna do this to hopefully do endgame PvE because I am a masochist, so I decided to ask here first... Because I hate myself and am feeling like subjugating myself to a cookiecutter build read off of a terrible looking website.

I am around 552CP, I have in my bank War Machine, I have Hundings and Briarheart on another character that I could swap over, and... Other details.

So. What do you folks think?

Yep, Dunmer is frankly the master race at this point for damage. They are basically never out of the top 3 for any DPS spec, magic or stam, in the game. You will sustain better with a redguard, and you will likely squeeze out a tiny more DPS with an Orc, but Dunmer is in 2nd for most stam specs.

Also, if your goal is PVE DPS, hybrid is a dirty word. On a dunmer, you can certainly level everything and switch your attributes, skill points, and CP around to be able to play both, but never at the same time. 64 points should always go into the same attribute (a handful into health is okay, but never required).

As for gear, dont overthink it too much. War Machine is not great for a DK as you lack a low cost ultimate, but it certainly will get the job done until you start chasing scores. Hundings and Briarheart are both excellent options. Relequen/Advancing yokeda are the meta trial sets, but there are plenty of viable substitutes. Your rotation is far more important.

as said they are basically 2nd beset stam or mag DPS. You just lack some sustain.

Is there a reason you feel compelled to going stam vs. being a magicka dragonknight? Becuase it sounds like you're doing so to meet some kind of requirement, but if you can hit decent numbers it doesn't matter if you're stam or mag, and if you run in a progression trials group, true they may not want multiple magDKs but one is actually quite helpful to keep up engulfing flames and help with chains.

Also if you're against 'rotations' and they make your eye twitch AND you want to 'end game' DPS, it doesn't matter what race/class/spec you are, rotations are part of the game because math and time.

I guess I am just feeling more inclined towards Stamina than Magicka. That and I kinda felt like mixing things up a bit, as I usually play Nightblades, and I haven't tried a Staminda Dragonknight yet.

And I just felt an eye twitch because anytime I hear "Rotations", because I always think of the straightforwardness of other MMO games, and then I look at ESO and it's just... Something different. Something dark and evil.

Also, an unexplainable reason is that for some reason, whenever I associate "Rotations" and "Practice" with ESO, I feel an internal gut-punch feeling that I cannot explain, which is... Definitely a bit unusual and troublesome. And it's not like I want to do Trials, I just wanna do Dungeons, as it's probably the only thing I care about.

Yes. An an orc would be better, but you have to look like an orc.

With the sustain buffs that stam DKs received over the last couple patches isn't Redguard overkill at this point?

My main is a Dumner StamDK and I can parse 40k with him using Relequin, AY, and Selenes so it’s a viable race.

I think they are overkill for a Stam DK. With the reduced cost to poison and battle roar I sustain fine on my dark elf.

@Kalgert Don’t let the rotation intimidate you. Last time I played one, stamDK had one of the easiest rotations. IIRC it was basically just cast all your DoTs in order (1,2,3,4,5,swap, 1,2,3,4,5), then repeat. This included Venom Claw, Noxious Breath, Poison Injection, Endless Hail, Caltrops, Rearming Trap, Rending Slashes, Flames of Oblivion. I don’t recall the best order of these skills, or if there were any others I’m forgetting (that’s only 8 skills, so would need to fill a few seconds with either more skills or heavy attacks to avoid clipping the end of DoTs), I’m sure someone else can help with that.

Well, I currently had a whack at a Skeleton Dummy, and my results are... Eh, as much as I expected: 12kDPS with the skeleton going down in about 4 minutes.

Admitively this is in part due to me not having a refined ability loadout, and me not having all the passives that improve my output. Will let you all know how it is after I get my Medium Armor, Dual Wield and Bow to level 50.

Though personally, I don't expect an increase any higher than 15k, as I seem to really struggle getting it any higher with my gearset of Hunding's Rage, Spriggans and Selene two-piece.

Heh. I will admit, the eye-twitch was more of a nervous reaction as I don't often have the best impressions when someone says "Rotations". Plus when my Dunmer was still a Fire Mage, I played piano with my keyboard on the abilities, and I didn't really go to any high places, so it's part due to that as well.
