Winter Festival Hearthfire no longer works

The Winter Festival Hearthfire no longer works as a provisioning station in the Winter Festival Fireplace. I have made no changes and could not use the fire as a provisioning station this morning (first time since the update). If I go into the housing editor I can no longer get the fire itself to turn green inside the fireplace although it will right click align to the bottom of the fireplace. The only way it will become functional, i.e. green, is if it is aligned on the floor. Something changed in one or the other with Update 21.

I tested mine and it works fine, they changed something about the movement options in the editor and changed the hearthfire to a gold item, but nothing about it should have altered the fire itself. You could try making sure it is flat and not floating, put the drag on when moving it.

And if you have to align it to the floor, maybe you had it on an angle in the fireplace?

Another thing you could try is turning off any add-ons that affect housing.

    I don't use add-ons.

Mine was working fine before the update so some attribute changed that affected the hearthfire or hearth. The floor of the Winter Festival Hearth (fireplace) is raised above the building's floor. Prior to the update I could align the fire to the floor of the hearth and it would turn green and be usable as a crafting station. After the update it stays yellow. If I align the fire to the house floor then move it into the fireplace it is not visible.

Where did you place your Hearthfire?

I've been playing around with it a bit and it looks to me that something changed with the hearth. If I drop it down one layer and align the fire (right click) it will turn green and start working. It doesn't look like the fire is touching the floor. Having to do this ruins the look for me though.

Oh should mention this is in the first floor side room without the door in Velothi Reverie.

I have several hearthfire's the one I tested was in the fireplace it came with, in the snow globe home. Have to work out where the others are later and start moving them around. Possibly it is just a thing with any change to the editor and it is not sitting on the fireplace floor right. I have not tried the new editor options yet, a glitch caused by the last patch has swallowed up my main crafter and house decorator, and I am unable to load her, so am sulking.

I had it working left the house to do stuff and now that I am back it doesn't work anymore. Something in the update messed this up as it had been working for months without any problems.

This is what I've found. I still think the update broke the way walls affect interactive items.

Something in the update changed the way items interact with walls and/or floors as my problem started the first time I tried to use the fireplace after it went live. I had never had a problem in the months it was setup before this. This is in the Velothi Reverie house and appears to be related to the base board/wall/fireplace/hearthfire intersection.

I've done some playing around and got it working again by moving the fireplace further from the wall but that doesn't look good with the wide gap. I was able to close the gap some and it worked until I left the house to do some other stuff and stopped again when I returned. I've always had to leave a tiny unnoticeable gap so the base board doesn't intrude into the fireplace firebox. Is was also far enough away from the wall that the wall didn't deactivate the interactive feature of the hearthfire. Since the update it appears the hit box of the wall, fireplace or hearthfire has changed and is larger than it use to be. This results in the it intruding into the firebox and disabling the interactive feature of the hearthfire (positioned in middle of firebox).

So I've gotten it working but it doesn't look as good as it did prior to the change. I don't like it as the WF Hearth is the only fireplace available that I think fits well with the Dark elf house style. Not sure what changed but would like to see it back the way it was before the update.

Not being one that likes it when getting something to work finding it stops working later I decided to go back through the steps I took when trying to get the hearthfire working again. It does not appear to be related to the wall after all but proximity of multiple interactive objects.

I have always had a stool in front of the fireplace. Both the stool and hearthfire provisioning station worked fine before the update. It is their collision after the update that allowed the stool to work but hearthfire not to. It also explains why I got the hearthfire to work then seeing it not working. As part of trying to figure out what was going on I move everything away from the fireplace. Once I had the hearthfire working I put everything back to where it had been originally but never retested the fireplace. I have move the stool further away from the fire to compensate for what appears to be a larger hit box.
